Shelton Community Cinema offers 'The End of the Line'
Shelton Community Cin-
ema will screen its month-
ly Final Friday movie at
7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24,
at the Mason County PUD
No. 3 auditorium, 307 W.
Cota Street, Shelton.
This Friday's film is
"The End of the Line," a
documentary that reveals
the impact of overfishing
on oceans by showing the
effects of the United States'
global love affair with fish
as food.
The film examines the
imminent extinction of
bluefin tuna, brought on
by increasing western de-
mand for sushi; the im-
pact on marine life from an
overpopulation of jellyfish;
and the implications of a
future world with no fish,
now predicted for 2048,
which could bring about
mass starvation. "The End
Of The Line" was filmed
across the world -- from
the Straits of Gibraltar to
the coasts of Senegal and
Alaska to the Tokyo fish
markets.
There is no charge for
admission to Shelton Com-
munity Cinema, but do-
nations are welcome with
proceeds going to SOCK's
(Save Our County's Kids)
youth programs. For more
information, call 432-3229
or email bob@sock.org.
Shelton Community Cin-
ema is not associated with
any political or religious
group.
