Shelton resident Reta Baney made an interesting discovery when hav-
ing several windows replaced in her 1929 Shelton home. Stuffed into
the walls around the window were several issues of the Journal dating
back to the mid-1960s. Baney said her favorite was this full-page adver-
tisement for an oral polio vaccine. "I'm just fascinated," Baney said. "We
thought they'd be older. We thought this was the original window."

Air Force Master Sergeant and Simpson Timber employee Chris
Yando presented Douglas Reed of Simpson Timber with an Ameri-
can flag and a certificate thanking the company for supporting him
as he went overseas to serve in active duty in the Air Force. When
Yando found out that he would be serving in the Middle East, Simp-
son saved his job back home, no questions asked, Yando said.
"They have to ... but a lot of other employers gripe about it," Yando
said. "They've been supportive." Simpson representatives in turn
thanke Yando for his service. "This is a humbling thing for all of
us," said.
