"Getting hut ut isn't the way to finish the season." Climbers Continued from page C-1 he suffered a technical fall at 17-2 to Central Val- ley High School's Jarod Maynes. In his third match, Gar- rick lost in a 5-0 decision to Brandon Blevins from Marysville-Pilchuck High School. Garrick was not only disappointed his sea- son ended, but about how it ended. "Getting shut out isn't the way to finish the sea- son," Garrick said. His father, Shelton as- sistant coach Rodgar Gar- rick said even though his son didn't achieve his goals for the tournament, he still had a great soph- omore year in his High- climber debut. "We were excited that he got to state," Coach Garrick said. "It was just a successful season." Barber also had a good start at 160 pound with a pinfall on Curtis High School's Mitch Homeyer at 5:23. Barber trailed 6-0 after the first period before outscoring Homeyer 7-1 in the second period. "I was really amped up about it," Barber said about the pinfall victory. But in Barber's sec- ond match, Mariner High School's Alex Coffman was too much for the High- climber, who lost by pin at 3:12 in the second period. Barber's run at the Mat Classic ended in a loser- out consolation match against Central Valley High School's Tanner Da- vis after suffering a final round pin at 3:12. "I really thought I could beat him [Davis]," Bar- ber said. "He just got me before I could beat him. I could have beaten him."
