Clem Tondre of tClma (lie was a
shipmate of Russ's on the old Lex-
ington) and, although he couldn't
be present for his folk's "big day",
son Jack Wells had assisted in
arrangements for it when he was
in Grapeview in Janua15~ prior to
leaving for California.
"Surprise" aspect of the celebra-
tion was accomplished with a bit
of clever subterfuge by the hosts:
they invited the Wells to dinner
to celebrate Mr. Art Nicklaus'
birthday and when they arrived
and presented Art with a gift, the
Wells were in turn presented an
invitation to attend their own an-
niversary party. An especially sen-
timental aspect was added to the
affair as the silver wedding cake
was the first Russ and Ruth had
cut together. Their mazTiage in
Yuma, Ariz., Feb. 24, 1940 was an
elopement. Adding an extra bit
of excitement to the day was a
phone call that evening from
Ruth's brother, R. B. Thompson
in Los Angeles, who extended his
congratulations to the happy cou-
ple.
Our congratulations and best
wishes, too, for many more anni-
versaries in the future.
The annua levening Junior High

The reknowned SVEA (Swed-
ish) Male Chozxts presented a con-
cert at Alderbrook Inn Saturday
evening for the benefit of the Un-'
ion Volunteer Fire Department.

talented group were Mr. and Mrs.
Orin Buckingham, Mr. and Mrs.

Commander Howard Seiners,
USNR joined a gr~mp of Nawd
Reserve officers flying to C~lifor-
nia last Thursday on special duty.
This group spent Friday touring
the Naval Missle Center at Point
Mugu. Howard spent Friday eve-
ning in Los Angeles and on Satur-
day thoroughly enjoyed the home-
ward flight which followed the
coast line of California and Ore-
gon then cut across over Olympia,
the islands of Puget Sound, Lake
Washington and Mercer Island be-
that the Walt Clayton's were
faced with last Sunday morning
when a. cute little shaggy black
radical \vilh a white walrus-type
mu~,d:ache and appealing demean-
or called on them, liked them and
stayed. Obviously this vcell-cared-
for and well behaved little female
belongs to someone. Any infol'ma-
tiou that might lead to the return
of this cute little bowser to her
owners will probably be much ap-
preciated by them, however, iden-
tification will be necessary to re-
claim her.
