"But nothing was more pleasing than seeing Mr. Phelan smil- ing so much. That man's smile had a thousand words behind it and I couldn't thank him enough for being such a great coach." Swimcoach Chad Youngquist also heaped the praise on diving coach Rob Phelan. "We're going to graduate two (diving) seniors, but I think we l have four more on the podium next year," Youngquist Netzel said. "I think the cred- it there goes to the athletes, but coach Phelan has by far the best diving program in the state and potentially go- ing forward. That's something everyone has seen." Brown-Garcia said he felt like his nerves affected him, so he didn't perform as well as thought he would, but he get a personal best time in the 50-yard freestyle with a 23.40. The swim team's best per- formance was in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Brown-Garcia, who led off the relay, beat his 50-yard freestyle individual time by swimming a 23.00 for his relay leg. Youngquist said the team and Brown-Garcia did every- thing he hoped they would do. "I was pleased with how they swam," Youngquist said.
