with 341.25 points.
For Jon Netzel, the state
experience was bitter-
sweet. It was the last
time he was competing
at state and he wanted
to improve his third-
place finish from last
year.
"Besides the com-
petition I would have
to say my favorite part
was being able to be Jon
a part of such a great
diving team," Netzel said. "But
nothing was more pleasing
than seeing Mr. Phelan smil-
ing so much. That man's smile
had a thousand words behind
it and I couldn't thank him
enough for being such a great
coach."
Swimcoach Chad
Youngquist also
heaped the praise
on diving coach Rob
Phelan.

Netzel said. "I think the cred-
it there goes to the
athletes, but coach Phelan has
by far the best diving program
in the state and potentially go-
ing forward. That's something
everyone has seen."
Brown-Garcia said he felt
like his nerves affected him, so
he didn't perform as well as
thought he would, but he

50-yard freestyle with a 23.40.
The swim team's best per-
formance was in the 200-yard
freestyle relay. Brown-Garcia,
who led off the relay, beat his
50-yard freestyle individual
time by swimming a 23.00 for
his relay leg.
Youngquist said the team
and Brown-Garcia did every-
thing he hoped they would do.
"I was pleased with how
they swam," Youngquist said.
