Foundation Seeks Nominations for 2012 American Business Women's Award
MGH Foundation is seeking nominations for its 15th annual American Business Women's Award. The
awards will be presented at a Luncheon held in their honor on Friday, September 21, 2012 from 11:30 a.m.
to 1 p.m. Due to Hospital construction, the location will be announced at a later date. Tickets for the event
are S25 per person. Every year, MGH Foundation honors outstanding business women who are or were
successful in their occupations, work or have worked in Mason County, and are active and volunteer in their
community.
Past honorees include: 1998- Miriam Hall, JanetThornbrue, and Patti Tupper; 1999 - Nita Bariekman,
Jean Lee, and Norma Taylor; 2000 - Kay Gott, Colleen Hunter, and Doris Wilson, M.D.; 2001 - Mary Helen
Anderson, Beth Johnston, R.N., and Betty Wolfe; 2002 - Carol Hunter, Rose Nye, and Cherrie Reitsch; 2003 -
Janis Byrd, Carolyn Olsen, and Gayle Weston; 2004 - Patti Case, Betty Wing, and Catherine Ann Wolf; 2005
- Angela Wake Olsen, Michelle Schnitzer Corral, and Renee Youngs; 2006 - Xinh Dwelley, Irene Locke, and
Virginia J. McCarty; 2007 - Lynn Busacca, Vicki Gonzalez, and Lynn Harvey; 2008- Laurie Buhl, Pam Hanson,
and Billie Howard; 2009 - Kristy Buck, Sharon Tibbits, and Lisa Woodard; 2010- Janene Pettyjohn Bandes,

The next MGH & FC Diabetes Support Group meeting topic for Shelton and
Allyn is entitled, "Sweeteners Decoded!" The Mason General Hospital Shelton
Diabetes Support Group will meet on Thursday, March 15 from 1 to 2 p.m. in the
Ellinor Room at the Hospital.The MGH Allyn Diabetes Support Group meeting
wilt be Thursday, March 22 from 1 2 p.m. in the Port of Allyn building's down-
stairs meeting room. Sarah Fulkerson, certified diabetes educator and regis-
tered dietitian at MGH, will lead both groups, taking a look at natural and artificial
sweeteners, discussing their sources and the pros and cons of each, and setting
aside time for questions and answers. For more information call Sue Barwick,

Wellness Center).
"Living Well With Diabetes"Class In April... If diabetes is a part of your life,
plan to attend MGH & FC's two-day class entitled "Living Well With Diabetes."
The two consecutive afternoons will be Tuesday and Wednesday, April 17 and 18
from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hospital. Due to limited space, advanced registration
is required. Diabetes education is a covered service under most insurance plons. To
pre-register, call Sue Barwick, R.N., certified diabetes educator, at (360) 426-1611,
ext. 3301 (from Allyn (360) 275-8614, ext. 3301).
MGH & FC FREE Community CPR Class in March and April... MGH & FC
is offering two more FREE Adult, Child, and Infant Basic Life Support CPR
classes, on either Thursday, March 8 orThursday, April 12 from 6 to 9 p.m. in
MGH's Learning Center, located next to the Shelton McDonald's.The class is open
to the entire community, and everyone is advised to wear comfortable clothing.
A Spanish interpreter will be made available on request. Class size is limited, so
please pre-register by calling The Learning Center at (360) 427-3609. This is not a
First Aid closs.
