tenure, Brewer said, "We cre-
ated a culture, a good, posi-
tive culture, for quality teach-
ing and quality learning."
The district raised the aca-
demic achievements of stu-
dents, reduced the number
of disciplinary issues below
state averages, and improved
attendance above state aver-
ages, he said.
"That's our greatest accom-
plishment," Brewer said.
The second biggest high-
light was the district's pas-
sage of a $25.4 million build-
ing bond in February 2015,
Brewer said. The bond money
created a new middle school
"We created a culture, a good, positive culture, for quality teaching and
quality learning, The people of Mason County are phenomenal people,"
Marly Brewer, Pioneer School District superintendent
and added 10 new classrooms
at Pioneer Primary School.
Last month, voters in the
Pioneer and Hood Canal
school districts both rejected
building bonds that would
have cooperatively estab-
lished a new high school in
central Mason County. Brew-
er said he would have accept-
ed his new job whether the
bond passed or not.
Brewer said he expects to
miss the people the most. Dis-
trict residents consistently
help people in need, he said.
"The people of Mason Coun-
ty are phenomenal people," he
said.
Brewer said four factors
will ensure Pioneer will draw
good candidates to replace
him: a cohesive school board,
a positive work culture, excel-
lent facilities and a good sal-
ary.
Before he came to the Pio-
neer School District, Brewer
worked for seven years as an
elementary school principal
and director of gilled programs
in the Richland School Dis-
trict. In 2014, he was a finalist
for the job of superintendent of
the Quincy School District in
eastern Washington.
