TEANN'S RED DAWN looks at the trophy and ribbons she
won by going best of breed and best of winners at the
Seattle Kennel Club Show at the Seattle Center Saturday.
Dawn, an Australian Terrier, is owned by Mr. and Mrs.
Alan Ford and was shown by Mrs. Ford at the show. She
was picked as the best of the nine Australian Terriers en-
tered in the show.

Beat Southside Cpuintet
• Jeff Okano garnered 13 points
to lead the Shelton Junior High
seventh grade basketball team
to a 40-19 victory over South-
side. Southside's Bill Bacon
scored 13 for the losers.
The Blazers led 12-6 at the
half, pulled out to a 24-13 lead
at the third quarter mark, and
finished gomg away for the big
win.

Wi÷h Hopkins Hoop Squads
• Mike Sparks led all scorers
with 13 points, but a well-round-
ed attack gave Hopkins a 40-30
win over Shelton Junior High's
Blazers in the final game of the
season last week.
The game got off to a slow
start, with the score 15-7 in Hop-
kins' favor at the half. The ac-
tion picked up in the second
Drag Season
Starts April 9
• Shelton Drag Strip will open
April 9 and thirteen races will
follow it was announced this
week by Ed Kneeland, race pro-
motet .
"The season's first race will
feature a Top Funny Car Eli-
minator with only the eight fast-
est cars qualifing for the pro-
gram", said Kneeland. "With
over sixteen fun-type cars in
the Northwest it should be very
competitive to fill the first eight
positions".
Also on the opening show is a
match race between two of the
Top AA-Fuel Dragsters on the
west coast; T.V. Star Tommy
Ivo's "Videoliner", the first suc-
cessful full-streamlined drag-
ster ever built will race the 212
mph dragster of Ed Norton with
former Olympian John Kendersi

The Shelton racing facility has
undergone many winter changes
including : new food facilities,
improved P.A. system, new rest-
rooms, three story timing tower
and most important a 2400 seat-
ing capacity bleacher section
has been started and is expected
to be installed soon .
The Shelton drag strip, is lo-
cated 2 miles north of Shelton
at Sanderson Field.

third quarter when the reserves

Hopkins then started edging
up, so with slightly less than
two minutes remaining in the
game, Shelton's starters were
put back in. A well-executed
full court press helped the Blaz.
• Three trophies were award-
ed at the Olympic Riders hill-
climb Sunday. Bernie Huisingh
copped distance honors for 100cc
machines, Bill tIoyit had a time
of 10.2 for 250cc, and Ken Sim-
mons 8.3 for 500 cc.
Ten riders participated in the
meet. The club will hold its
next /heeling Nfarch 11.
