Southside's Bill Bacon scored 13 for the losers. The Blazers led 12-6 at the half, pulled out to a 24-13 lead at the third quarter mark, and finished gomg away for the big win. Blazers Spli÷ Pair Of Games Wi÷h Hopkins Hoop Squads • Mike Sparks led all scorers with 13 points, but a well-round- ed attack gave Hopkins a 40-30 win over Shelton Junior High's Blazers in the final game of the season last week. The game got off to a slow start, with the score 15-7 in Hop- kins' favor at the half. The ac- tion picked up in the second Drag Season Starts April 9 • Shelton Drag Strip will open April 9 and thirteen races will follow it was announced this week by Ed Kneeland, race pro- motet . Bob Turner's 19-point effort helped push the Blazer eighth graders past Hopkins 52-30. The Blazers led all the way and were leading 39-27 at the end of the third quarter when the reserves took over. Hopkins then started edging up, so with slightly less than two minutes remaining in the game, Shelton's starters were put back in. Bernie Huisingh copped distance honors for 100cc machines, Bill tIoyit had a time of 10.2 for 250cc, and Ken Sim- mons 8.3 for 500 cc. Ten riders participated in the meet.
