Fine is given on petit larceny charge Dan Pederson, 21, Shelton, was fined $150 and given a six-month deferred jail sentence on a charge of petit larceny when he appeared in Mason County Superior Court before Judge Robert Doran Friday. Pederson pleaded guilty to the charge, which had been reduced from one of grand larceny. He and another young man had been charged in an incident on January 22, 1976 in which a washer and dryer belonging to Gladys Cox were taken. Deputy Prosecutor Richard Adamson told the court the other young man had pleaded guilty to a charge of petit larceny and had been sentenced previously. He said the washer and dryer had been returned to the owner undamaged. Pederson appeared in Court without an attorney. Olympia attorney Steve Henderson had been previously appointed to represent him in the case, but had been withdrawn. Pederson told the court he did not want an attorney. Adamson told the court Pederson had no prior criminal record. He also recommended that Pederson be given a similar sentence to that imposed on the other defendant, which had been a $150 fine and a deferred jail sentence.
