NARCE To
Have Meeting
The local chapter of the
National Association of Retired
Federal Employees will hold their
March meeting at 2 p.m. March
11 in the PUD Building.
All retired Federal employees
are welcome to attend, according
to Walt Coiling, president of the
group. Further information can
be obtained from Coiling at
426-6745.
Coiling commented there has
been some question about what
must be done by survivors of a
retired federal employee to
collect benefits due them.
He outlined these four steps
which must be taken.
1. Return any uncashed
annuity checks to the Division of
Disbursement, United States
Treasury Department, Washington
D. C., 20226.
2. Notify the Bureau of
Retirement, Insurance and
Occupational Health, United
States Civil Service Commission,
Washington D. C., 20415, of the
death of the annuitant.
3. Complete application for
survivor benefits, which will be
sent to the survivor as soon as the
Bureau of Retirement, Insurance
and Occupational Health learns of
an annuitant's death.
4. Obtain a certified copy of
the annuitants death certificate to
enclose with the application.
