During Friday’s Mason County Sheriff’s Office
monthly breakfast at Little Creek Casino Resort in
Shelton, Sheriffs Office administrative staff hand-
ed out internal awards to three employees.

Free dump day vouchers
coming to Belfair
Personnel from United Way of Mason County
will distribute vouchers for this spring’s free dump
day to eligible residents from 10 a.m. to noon Tues-
day at the HUB Center for Seniors, 11 NE Old Bel-
, fair Highway in Belfair.
Vouchers are redeemable May 22 at the county’s
Shelton Transfer Station (501 W. Eells Hill Road)
and available first-come, first-serve. Vouchers
also are available from 10 a.m. to 2 pm. Monday
through Friday at United Way of Mason County,
536 W. Railroad Ave., Shelton.
To receive a voucher, customers must complete
required paperwork, have valid identification and
proof of a Mason County address. Vouchers are
good for disposal of up to 1,000 pounds of household
garbage. United Way of Mason County hosts the
free dump day in partnership with Mason County
and Republic Services.
Ted Jackson, executive director of United Way of
Mason County, said earlier this week about 140 of
300 dump day vouchers remain.

Veterans group lease
with NorthMason
Resources approved
The Board of Mason County Commissioners
approved a lease agreement for veteran service of-
districts
ficers at North Mason Resources in Belfair during
the board’s regular Tuesday business meeting at
commission chambers in Shelton.
The lease agreement calls for a $350 monthly
payment through Dec. 31 to North Mason Resourc-
es from the group, provided by the Mason County
Veterans’ Assistance Fund. According to BOCC
meeting documents, the Mason County Veterans’
Assistance Fund has a year-to-date $28,000 cash
balance, and about $22,400 has been provided as
assistance to county veterans.
The lease agreement was recommended for ap-
proval by the Mason County Veterans Advisory
Board.
Two public hearings on
tap for St. Patrick’s Day
The Board of Mason County Commissioners is
scheduled to host two public hearings during its
March 17 regular business meeting in Shelton.
The first hearing, scheduled to start no earlier
than 9:15 a.m., is to consider the surplus of a 0.34-
acre land parcel as an exchange with the Port of
Hoodsport for use as a septic drain field for commu—
nity restrooms.
A second March 17 public hearing is to consider
supplemental appropriations and amendments
to the county’s 2020 budget. At that hearing, the
BOCC will consider $274,162 in total adjustments
to authorized expenditure appropriations to the
general fund, and $976,823 in adjustments to au-
thorized expenditure appropriations to other funds.
Board of Mason County Commission meetings
are at 9 a.m. the first three Tuesdays of the month
at the county’s administration building at 411 N.
Fifth St., Shelton. The board meets at 6 pm. the
fourth Thursday of each month.
