Bulldogs Surprise One

North Mason's Bulldogs lost the
trail to the state Class A basket-
ball tournament by bowing to
Chimacum. 46-26, last week.
It was tim third meeting of the
season between the Pupa and tim
Indians and the third time Chim-
scum collected a noop scalp fl'ol
the Belfair crew.
No Bulklog player scored in
double figures in either game. Bill
Walbaum hit nine in the victory,
Mike Stevenson eight in the loss.
The Bulld(tgs won the Tolt tilt
late in tim last quarter when Le-
R.oy Johnson hit three foul shots
and Dennis Shelly a pair to break
a 29-29 tie. The Bulldogs had
gained a 27-23 edge at the end of
ttwee cantos, after a 16-16 half-
time deadlock. The game wa
played at Fife.
North Mason made it close for
the first half against Chimacum,
trailing only 21-15, and weren't
.at of il even at tile end of the
thir(I, 32-23, but a bad letdown in
the final round killed their hopes

1961-62 basketball season just
completed He scored 131 points
in 17 games for a 7.7 points-per-
game average.
Wagner's mate at the other
backcourt spot, Bob Walker, was
runner-up making 109 points in
16 contests for a 6,8 average.
The "Little Climbers" split ev-
en in 18 games this season, win-
ning nine while lolng the same
number. Coach Harold Wllson's
seconds won five and lost seven
in Seamount League competition,
which earned them fourth place
behind Curtis, NorLl Thurston and
Fife.
Sophomore forward Brian Brie.
took the most shots, 131, to Don
Clary's 77, Jim Anderson had the
best shooting average among the
regulars at 36 percent, making 18
of 50 field goal attempts.
Terry led the foul shooters with
26 of 43 chances for 60 percent,
Cops among egu]ara, although
Barnes had 49 chances to lead
there.
