WEATHER Mason County Fire District 2330 West Skokomish Valley Road Shelton, WA. 98584 Phone: (360) 427-7426 #9 Community News Letter February 2012 On Sunday August 29, 2004 the fire department hosted an open house for the newly constructed fire hall. We were proud to show off the latest improvement to provide fire and medical support to our community. The purchase of the land and the construction was funded by funds that had been saved for many years. At that time, the department adopted a ten-year plan for improvements to this new station. Mason County Fire District is proud to announce the district's plan to develop the second phase of Station 9-2 located at 50 East Roadrunner Rd. Shelton. In November of 2011, the Board of Fire Commissioner's approved the spending of invested fire funds to start the project. The first portion of this phase was to drill a well and establish a water system for the Fire Station which has been completed. The next part of the project is to have a sewer system designed and installed. And the final step will be the building of living quarters that will support both Firefighter and Medical Aid personnel to include ALS Medical staff. These improvements would greatly improve the response times for alarms. This construction cost for the total project came from contracted fire protection and wild land fire fighting reimbursements from the state. These moneys were invested for many years for the sole purpose to replace equipment and up-grade the district service to the community.
