Barbara Louise Johnson Barbara Louise Johnson, 90, died Saturday, March 5, 2011 of natural causes at Fir Lane Health and Rehabili- tation in Shelton. She was a resident of Shelton for six years. She was born October 21, 1920 to Martin and Lenorah (Harbke) Thompson in Nez- perce, Idaho: She married Raymond T. Johnson on October 27, 1939 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Nezperce, Idaho. She graduated from Nez- perce High School in Idaho and attended Whitworth College in Spokane. She moved to Elma in 1958 and worked for St. Helens Hospital as a housekeeping supervisor and later cooked for Dixy Lee Ray when she was governor. She worked 20 years as a caregiver and re- tired when she was 77. She was a homemak- er, assisting her husband with raising their children and farming. She helped in church functions, 4-H club, cub scouts and the lo- cal grange. She was also in- volved in foreign exchange student programs. She is survived by her daughters Jean Howell of Shelton and Julie Ostergard of Mattawa; sons, Stanley Johnson of Winlock, Theo Sjolbergh of Vancouver, B.C. and Kim and Oanh and family of Korbel, Calif.; brother Martin A. Thompson of Nezperce, Idaho; sisters Genevieve Hill of Nezperce, Idaho and Sara Anne Savage of Lewiston, Idaho; grand- children, Darren Evans of Westport, William Howell of Lacey, Brenda Vendetti of North Carolina, Terri Ann Wehmeyer of Carnation, Heidi Schiesser of Everett, Inger Coffee of Oregon and Karri Johnson of Chehalis. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Richard Johnson, grand- daughter Marta and great- granddaughter Rose. A service will be held at 1 p.m. on March 19 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Nezperce, Idaho. The of- ficiant at the service will be John Savage and Martin Thompson, Forest Funeral Home in Shelton is handling the ar- rangements. Kennedy, 98, died on March 1, 2011 at Fir Lane Health and Rehabilita- tion Center in Shelton. She was born July 23, 1912 in Oshkosh, Neb. to Ervin and Nancy Roberts. She married Fred Ken- nedy, Dec. Wilma M. 23, 1956 in Kennedy Wenatchee. She was previ- ously married to Emmett Hoover and Torjus Torjuson, the marriages ended in di- vorce. She was a Licensed Prac- tical Nurse for many years and also had an ambulatory elder care home at her home in Wenatchee. She was family oriented and enjoyed having her fam- fly around and cooking for them. Services will be announced at a later date. Arthur James Mell Arthur James Mell, 86, died on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at his home in Shelton Washing- ton sur- rounded by 'his family and friends. He was born Sep- Arthur tember 23, James Mell 1924 in Olympia, Washington to Eli J. (Bill) Mell and Vera (Westover) Mell. He graduated from Olym- pia High School in 1942. Mell and Maxine Mosher were married in 1945. They raised four children and were active in the community, es- pecially 4-H. Mell then went on the road with a jazz orchestra as a trombone player. He returned to Shelton in 1943 to join the family busi- ness, Mell Chevrolet Co. He continued with the business, becoming its president in 1956. He was the last one out the door when Mell Motors closed in September 2010. Additionally, he was owner of the Olympia Oil and Wood Products, later named Olym- pia Fuel and Asphalt. His family shared that he appreciated the community's continued support of the Mell Chevrolet dealership for over 80 years and for the many employees that provided their loyal services. Braune 12/15/43- 3/2/11 Randi had an innate sense of beauty, from music to art to interior design and gardening. She sang professionally with one of the original Seattle rock and roll bands of the early 6O's as pictured in the EMP at the Seattlc Center. Later, she toured with Rocky Rockwell's band and sang at Rosellini's and other fine Scattle clubs. After studying at Cornish Institute, she received her degree in Art History from the University of Washington. More reccntly, she expressed her love of beauty in the transformation of their property in Shelton, from forest into a screne Japanese garden, complete with koi ponds, exotic plants and a stunning view of Mount Rainier. Her home was a showplace of Asian inspired interior design. She is dearly missed by her husband, Capt. Martin Braune of Shelton, her mother, Jean Greene of Seattle, her daughter, Tracy Rantala, MD and son-in law Tom Rantala, of Wilton, New Hampshire and her three grandsons: Matthew, Markus, and Mikael Rantala, the lights of her life. She was a :resident of Shelton. She was born November 30, 1931 to William and Ela- n.or Nordholm Snodgrass in Seattle. She graduated from the University of Washington in Interior Design and earned ' wo Master's degrees in reli- gion and social work. Her family shared that she is most remembered for -- Paid Obituary Notice -- her joy of rhododendrons, including her business of propagating and growing them from seed in her green- house at Gig Harbor. She en- joyed ministering to people, first as a deaconess that took her to the Alaskan mission field and then as a Chaplain at Purdy Women's correction- al institu- tion, and for her joy of learning, her family shared. She was Marilyn A. interested Snodgrass in many things. She was well read in theological are- nas, politics, and nutrition as well as quite a brave user of her Mac computer. She en- joyed searching the Internet, e-mailing friends and fam- ily and using Photoshop to make the color more realistic in her many pictures of the rhodies in bloom. Her home in Shelton was designed and built and was in the process of being finish- ing when she died. Her gar- den and organic vegetables were her pride and joy. She also liked to take her kayak out on the bay and paddle with the otters and salmon in the quiet of the evening. She is survived by sister- in-law, Virginia Mallett Snodgrass of Portland, Ore. and cousin, Bill Snodgrass of Casper, Wyo., nieces and nephews Dan and Leigh Snodgrass of Bradford, Ga., Frank and Julie Farrenkopf of Lake Oswego, Ore., Dave and Jeanne Snodgrass of Maywood Park, Ore., Sherri and David Nicolella of Chino Ariz. and Corey and Jeanette Keating of Salem, Ore. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Bill Snodgrass and sister, Lorna Snodgrass Fink. Reygers 10/21/1953 -- 314/2011 Ronald Lodewijk Franciscus Reygers, age 57, passed away peacefully March 4, 2011, at his home in Shelton, Wash. in the loving arms of his wife, Traci. His passing marked the end of a courageously fought two-year battle with cancer. Ron was born on October 21, 1953 in Surabaya, Indonesia. In 1955 his family moved to the Netherlands and in 1962 his family immigrated to the United States. He is the son of Albert A. and Emastien Reygers. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Wash., and graduated from the University of Washington with a masters in electrical engineering. Ron was in the Navy Submarine Service from 1972 to 1978. His rank at the time of his discharge was EM7(SS). He worked as an Electrical Engineer at Tacoma Power, Mason PUD, Richmond Engineering and was self-employed. Most recently he worked at Parametrix, Inc. Ron expressed his deepest felt appreciation for the support of the Parametrix staff, who went above and beyond his expectation during his time of illness. Ron felt like they were his second family. Ron received the most pleasure from spending time with his loving wife during their long walks with their dogs, and spending Sunday afternoons playing with his beloved grandson, Christopher. Ron enjoyed being near the ocean. He loved fishing with family and friends, also staying at this cabin in Westport. He liked telling and hearing fish stories, and loved the excitement and great feeling of fighting a big King Salmon on his line and bringing it into his boat. He is survived by his wife Traci Hanson, stepson Nick Hanson (Emily) an grandson Christopher, stepdaughter Tiana Clayton, daughters, Courtney Thomock, Lauren Reygers, and son Evan Reygers. He is also survived by sisters, Albertien Carmichael (DeWayne), Yvonne Russell (Bill), and brothers, Bill Reygers (Luzia), Ed Reygers (Maggie) and all their families. He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Reygers who passed away in 1987. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Funeral Home in Shelton, Wash.
