continued from page B-1
One of my favorite March Madness
memories came back in 1999, when
I was in my early years of being a
sports reporter in Ogden, Utah.
Ogden's Weber State University
won the Big Sky Conference tourna-
ment that year and earned an NCAA
tournament berth as a No. 14 seed:
The Wildcats were paired up with No.
3 seed North Carolina at KeyArena in
Seattle, and pulled off a stunning 76-
74 upset over the Tar Heels, a Final
Four team the previous year -- and
was again the next season.
+
I remember everyone in our news-
room gathered around the TV watch-
ing the final minutes as Weber State
pulled Off that victory over one of col-
lege basketball's royalty.
Monday was the 20th anniversary
of that particular game and I still
remember many details about it very
clearly.
That's the true magic of the mad'
ness of March.
