Up-tempo proved synonymous
with out-standing for Highclimb-
er hoopdom's C-squad boys this
past season.
Best at full throttle, Shelton's
varsity-players-in-the-making
parlayed their forte into a 14-3
record.
"An outstanding season," says
their mentor, coach Terry Dion.
"We swept Aberdeen, Capital
and Tumwater and split with
Olympia."
His boys' above-average ball-
handling and passing skills had a
lot to do with their success, says
Dion. Especially on the move.
"Yeah, when the tempo was
up," he says, "we excelled as com-
pared to our competition."
The squad exhibited great
teamwork, too, adds Dion, with
most of the players scoring in
every game. "And over the course
of the year," he says, "we had five
different players lead us in
scoring."
And defensively?
"We were solid," says Coach.
"We had many games where we
shut the opponents down for a
quarter or more.
"And another factor that aided
our efforts was the ability to re-
gain momentum during a game
after the other team went on a
run."
Sophomores all, the Climber C-
squaders included Aaron Dorcy,
Ryan Gonzales, Jason Winans,
Jay Edgington, Donal Wood, Zach
Bowman, Zach Sheetz, Kris Felix,
Mike Gray, Dan Philpott and
Philip Johnson.
