Norman Anderson, retired

Income taxes because of all the
headaches of figuring out the
forms.
R. C. Stewart, retired
salesman, 620 Cota. Food taxes
would be the one thing I think we
should be able to get along
without. The rest of them are
pretty necessary.
Mrs. Engen, retired housewife,
Grapeview. Property tax, because
it keeps going up and up and up
and l'm on a set income. That's
what happens when you get old.
You have a fixed income.
AI Rotz, naval administrative
clerk, 423 Euclid. Definitely the
sales tax. I don't like going in and
paying for something and then
paying more money. I'm from
Hawaii and we don't have a sales
tax there.
Hubert Chambers, retired
shoe repairman, P.O. Box 819.
There are two taxes I don't like.
One is sales and the other is
income tax. In my opinion
they're not being spent the way
they should be.

dislike that because of how it
affects the older people. They
stay at a level and can't keep
abreast of things as taxes go up.
But if we want services, we've got
to have taxes.
Mrs. S. W. Vanderwegen,
housewife, 920 Roy Boulevard.
The one that's most unfair is the
sales tax on food, particularly for
the poor people.
Nina Thies, college student,
Kamilche Valley. Sales tax,
because I don't like the idea of
buying and selling. ! prefer giving
and taking.
Carolyn Mohney, retired
accountant, Rt. 1, Box 76. Sales
tax on tbod and drugs. It's unfair
to the people who are particularly
poor. For big families who have
to pay it on food, it runs up.
Marilyn McNeil, juvenile
delinquent counselor. Sales tax,
because it's a constant reminder
of government intervention.
Mac McCullough, Home
Meats, 1313 Cota. I think
property taxes are going up like
crazy. I don't know why you
should be taxed for something
yOU own.
More than 1,500 Scouts and
Cub Scouts of the Tumwater Area
Council plan to help the
handicapped workers at Goodwill
Industries March 22 announced
James Phillips, council executive.
Special Goodwill bags were left at
homes in Mason County March
15. The Scouts will return after
10 a.m. March 22 to pick up the
filled Goodwill bags. Families are
asked to donate clothing and
small household items which they
no longer need, to provide
employment and training for
more than 400 handicapped men
and women at Tacoma Goodwill
Industries Rehabilitation Center.
Many handicapped men and
women from the local community
have received services from
Tacoma Goodwill.
"Materials are needed more
than ever at this time," said Don
Eldridge, Tumwater Area
Council's Goodturn Drive
coordinator.
Physically, mentally and
emotionally disabled men and
women work at, and learn, many
different skills at Goodwill as
they recondition the items
donated by the public.
CPR class
planned at
Agate Grange
Residents of the Bayshore,
Agate and Picketing areas
especially are welcome to attend
when members of Fire District 5
conduct classes on heart and lung
resuscitation at the Agate Grange
Hall 3/4 mile west and 1/8 mile
north of the Agate Store. The
classes will start promptly at 7
p.m. March 20.
