Plans are in progress for the
annual sixth grade forestry tour.
Participating in program at
Panhandle Lake 4-H Club Camp
will be representatives of the Soil
Conservation Service, Douglas Fir
Christmas Tree Co., U.S. Forest
Service, Department of Natural
Resources, Simpson Timber Co.,
ITT Rayonier, Extension Service,
State Game Department and
schools in the county.
All sixth grade students in
schools in the county participate
in the annual event which is
designed to give the students
information about forests and
forestry.
Broken Gas Line
Investigated
Shelton Police Wednesday
morning were investigating the
cause of a broken gas main near
the Mason Apartments Tuesday
night.
Police said they believed the
line was hit by a car.
After receiving the report of
the gas leak, officers confirmed it
and evacuated the Mason
Apartments and Harpers Broiler
until the leak was repaired.
Detainer
Ronald Lee Giles, 20, 521
Dearborn, is being held in Mason
County Jail on a charge of illegal
possession of firearms and on a
detainer from the State Patrol
Board,
Giles was arrested by Shelton
Police over the weekend on traffic
and liquor violation charges and
on a Justice Court warrant on a
previous charge.
He appeared in Mason County
Justice Court Monday on the city
charges and was sentenced to 20
days in jail and fined $100 by
Judge Glenn Correa.

McCleary Door Plant in 1954
after a career of 12 years. He was
active in Pacific Northwest kiln

Is Requested
The State Liquor Control
Board announced today that
Albert David Campbell has
applied for a full tavern license
for "Gibler's Cove Resort", Route
2, Box ! 98, Shelton.
Anyone wishing to support or
oppose the application may write
to the State Liquor Control Board
in Olympia.
Water Study
Hearing Set ,
Public hearings have been set
for Olympic Community College,
Bremerton, at 7:30 p.m. April 21
and at the Eames Theater at the
Seattle Center for 7:30 p.m. April
22 on the Puget Sound and
Adjacent Waters Comprehensive
Water and Related Land
Resources Study, it was
announced this week.
The purposes of the hearings
will be to discuss the public
workshop review undertaken
between November, 1970 and
March, 1971; provide additional
opportunity for citizens and
public agencies to comment on
the study; discuss how the study
will be used and review
completion of the report.
On Probation
A 13-year-old Shelton boy
appeared in Mason County
Juvenile Court Friday morning
for possession of marijuana.
He was placed on probation
by the court.
