Volz replaces Rowland as North Mason chamber leader

New North Mason Chamber of
Commerce president and CEO Pam
Volz is no stranger supporting and
advocating for small businesses and
nonprofit organizations throughout
Mason County. After a decade of in-
volvement across multiple chambers,
Volz said chamber of commerce work
is in her blood. Volz assumed the role
of president and CEO of the North Ma-
son Chamber on March 17, succeeding
Stephanie Rowland, who retired as
president and CEO after seven years.
Volz began her work with the North
Mason chamber as a membership co-
ordinator from 2010-2013 and has
been one the North Mason Chamber
of Commerce board of directors for
the past seven years, most recently as
chairman of the board. Prior to being
selected as president and CEO, Volz
was the business solutions navigator
for the Pacific Mountain Workforce

member and em-
ployee, she has been
active in. not just
the North Mason
and Thurston chambers, but also the
Shelton—Mason County Chamber of
Commerce as an ambassador to all
three organizations. Complementing
Volz’s career in workforce develop-
ment, chamber work has also become
her passion over the years. ,
“I think that this is my calling,”
said Volz. “And I am passionate about
chamber. I’ve had some great careers
over my years of working and it really
is a blessing to have this position. I’m

that helps promote, support and ad-
vocate for businesses in North Mason
County. The Chamber’s work can in-
clude connecting business owners with
customers or with neighboring ‘indus-
tries, aid in workforce development or
by providing educational opportuni—
ties to assist economic development in
the region.
As the chairman of the North Ma-
son Chamber board of directors, Volz
said her duty was to advise the presi-
dent and CEO on the pulse of the
membership and future growth of the
organization. In the role, Volz said she
will carry her previous knowledge and
experience into this new position in
how to better serve the organization’s
members. This will range from creat-
ing additional membership benefits to
updates on current events that affect
the small business and nonprofit com-
munity.

wants to maintain and strengthen her
relationships with the Shelton Mason
County and Thurston County Cham-
ber in addition to organizations like
the Mason County Economic Develop-
ment Council. Leading the North Ma-
son chamber, Volz said she is excited
to listen to the voices of business own-
ers in North Mason County and im-
prove relationships with Belfair and
surrounding communities.
Also on Volz’s horizon is the intro—
duction of a North Mason Chamber
foundation to aid in economic develop-
ment and educational opportunities
for North Mason business owners. The
chamber recently received a 501(c)(3)
accreditation for the foundation and
Volz will lead efforts for the founda-
tion in the upcoming months.
“We can build some programs that
can help with business training and
economic development for existing and
new businesses,” said Volz. “And con-
tinue to the future and beautification
of the North Mason area.”
