Shelton High School's tennis
team, the defending champions in
the Black Hills League, opened its
season last Tuesday with a 4-1
win over South Kitsap.
The Climbers had several
freshmen playing, including the
second and third singles players,
but the inexperience didn't seent
to hurt as they lost only in first
singles when Jack Frost dropped a
7-5-, 6-7 decision.
Dale Catnpagna took second
singles with 6-l, 6-3 win, while
Wes Stockwell took third singles
with 6-0, 6-3 scores.
Jeff McGee and Dave Hanson
teamed up in first doubles for a
7-6, 6-0 win, while Paul
Skipworth and Lincoln Miner
took second doubles easily, 6-7,
6-0.

If you are thinking of a
memorial for someone, something
that will make the person
remembered for years to come,
something that will be useful to
many people and something that
is personal to the character of the
person you loved or admired, you
could give a gift to the library.
The Shelton Public Library is an
ideal place for a memorial because
it is able to make your gift
available to all who are interested
year in and year out. The library
serves everyone in the
community. Anyone can find
knowledge in its collection of
material and anyone can give
knowledge to others by adding to
its collection.
Memorials can be selected
which a~e appropriate to the
interests of anyone; relative,
friend, teacher, doctor, business
associate, club metnber or church
member, and to fit any size
budget. The library has a special
memorial fund to make it possible
for anyone to make donations of
any size to the library for special
purchases. Gifts can be in the
form of cash to be used to buy
specific titles or books in specific
subject areas, or for more general
library use, either with or without
a tnemorial bookplate. An
endowment fund can be set up as
a trust to provide income to be
used to buy material or a bequest
can be used in any way specified.
Donations to the library are
granted the same income tax
deduction as donations to
colleges, churches and hospitals.
Books make ideal memorials
because you can choose any
number that are like the person
you wish to have remembered,
books that reflect the person's
interests and character to the
community. A book can save a
life, change a life, enrich a life
because it passes along part of
man's heritage of knowledge and

wisdom between its cov6rs.
For more information contact
the Shelton Public Library. The
library, is open from 10 a.m. to 5
p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday
through Thursday and 10 a.m. to
5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
