Woman gets year in prison By KEVAN MOORE Former Belfair resident Margaret Yvonne Peterson, 54, was sentenced this month in Mason County Supe- rior Court to a year and one day in prison for failing to register as a sex offender. Peterson was convicted of third- degree child molestation in King County Superior Court in March 1995 and required to register as a sex offender. Peterson eventually moved to the 100 block of Dogwood Lane in Belfair in October 2008. In June of last year, a certified mailing of the annual address veri- fication was returned to the Mason County Sheriffs Office as unclaimed and an outstanding bench warrant was issued for Peterson. Less than two weeks later, deputies went to the home and found it completely vacant. Peterson's neighbor told deputies that Peterson had moved to somewhere in or near Shelton in the first half of that month. Peterson was ultimately arrested at the Mason County Sheriffs Office on July 15, 2011. Peterson pled not guilty on April 27, 2011, but changed her plea to guilty on Feb. 6, 2012.
