TRACK NM track teams make early improvements By DEAN SIEMON The North Mason High School track and field team went up to 1A Port Townsend High School for a three-way meet with Olym- pic High School on Wednes- day, March 23. The boys team finished second with 37.5 points while the girls team finished third with 42 team points. North Mason's Tevin Wil- liams won both the boys 100 meters (11.84 seconds) and the boys 200 meters (23.92 seconds). "He's our best sprinter and that's a fact," said North Mason head coach Jeff Bev- ers. While Williams' times were not his best (his per- sonal best in 100 meters is 11 seconds), Bevers said the most important thing was that Williams walked off the track healthy. "He's had hamstring is- sues in the past," Bevers said. "Our goal was to just get out of the meet healthy." lay team, which includes Williams, as well as Ahron Stroud, Kameron Cross- white and Joshua Hosier. The four Bulldogs won the event with a time of 45.48 seconds. "If we progress the way we normally do, we could progress better than I origi- nally thought they would," Bevers said. North Mason's Shannon Heiter won in the javelin throw with a distance one inch more than 87 feet. Martin also finished third in the discus with a throw of 67 feet and four inches. "She's new to the pro- gram and has lots of prom- ise," Bevers said.
