The Shelton boys (3-0) defeated Timberline (0-2), 62-28, using the Narrows League's point system. The match was played on the front nine holes at Alderbrook. Alec Martison scored the most in- dividual points with 17 after shoot- ing a nine-hole round of 40. "He had eight holes where he shot par or better," said Shelton coach Mark Jonson. "He had just one bad hole." Marcus Browning golfed the best round overall with a score of 39, contributing 15 points. "He had probably his best round ever, especially on this nine," Jen- sen said. The Shelton girls (1-2) played their match on the back nine-holes in an 82-71 match loss to Timber- line (1-2). Two of the returning Shelton golfers scored more than 20 - Jes- sica Lanman (22) and Caitlyn Ernst (21). Ernst shot a round of 51 despite having four shots go out of bounds. "Easy to do on this course," said Shelton coach Lorna Martinson. "You just go out there and hit it and focus on the next shot." Lindsey Norton also had a round of 57 and contributed 15 points for the Lady Highclimbers. Newcomer Rilee Villanueva scored 10 points in a round of 62 in her first match at Alderbook, which Martinson said was a good sign for things to come this year. "I think we're going to see a lot of improvement this year," Martinson said. North Mason boys (0-2-1) lost their match 248-255 in nine-hole rounds. Andy Renne had the lowest score for the Bulldogs with a round of 40, followed by brother Tommy Renne with a score of 45. Austin Mackowski shot a round of 49. Blake Eddy had 58 and Derek Laaksonen shot a round of 63. The North Mason girls (1-1-1) lost their match by 12 strokes, 316-328, with Anela Barber leading the team with a nine-hole round of 40. The second lowest score for the Lady Bulldogs was Tori Bamford with 65, followed by Victoria Effray's 70, Madison Johnson's 71 and Court- ney Kenedy's 72.
