Mason County Literacy offers training to adult volunteers Mason County IJteracy will sponsor two training workshops tbr people who wmihl like to become volunteer tutors. Sessions will be held on Friday and Saturday, April 13-14, at 133 West Railroad Avenue in down- town Shelt.n. An additional train- ing workshop tbr any(me interested in tutoring reading, writing and math to adults will be given April 27-28. "It's very rewarding to witness the joy my student displays as her reading skills improve," said Kath- ryn Sherman-Wentz, an Americorps volunteer. "It tels good to be a part of helping her reach her goals and dreams. It's wonderful to know that my eflbrts are making a positive diflbrence in someone's life." There are opportunities to tutor adults in reading, writing, math and or computer skills. Volunteers may also help new-comers learn English or help in the office with special projects.
