Mary gets her hair waved, visits her father with Agnes
By CLYDENE
HOSTETLER
Typical spring week.
Charlie worked in the
yard and garden. Mary
and Agnes went to
Illary’s dad's and went
looking for wild flow-
ers. Ruth gets into a
bit oftrouble and Mary
and Sam give her an
ultimatum. Two words
that date the era are
“girdles” and “boils.”

Had my hair waved
and then got Mrs.
Hackett to town at one
o’clock. There were
ten of'us there and we
decorated the tables
and got all our stuff
together. To Alma Nil-
son to dinner and then
to Chapter. We had a
good crowd and every-
thing went off well. We
took everything off the
tables etc. and then
went home. A long but
pleasant day.

To the store at 10
am. and worked until
3 pm. when Sam said
to go home. Did a lot of
odd jobs and now I can
do what I want on Sun—
day. Found out where
Ruth was Wednesday.
We told her “No more
of that or she would be
taken out of the play.”
She promised but I
wonder it'she will keep
it. The wind is blowing
very strong. Charlie
fixed the lawn up real
good. Tomorrow we
trim the cedar trees. To
the community house
and had a good time.
Doug, Agnes and the
Michaels went with us.
Ate noodles and went to
bed late.

good. Went to my dads

flowers and had a good
time. Ruth went to the

gan. We had dinner

beach and read for a
while. To bed early.

The battery in the
sedan was (lead so I
took the Coupe to town.
Took Mae and Mrs.
Skene over to Berray‘s
and picked up Mrs.
Di'essler late. Had a
good time. In the eve-
ning took Mrs. Bard,
Hackett, Alma Nilson
and Martha Churchill
to Union installation.
It was a lovely ride. We
had a fine time and all
saw many old friends.
Home late and to bed.
Wednesday
April 15, 1942
Went to the store
early and worked until
six. Mary Ruth went to
the dentist and so did
Ruth. Ruth got a black
slip for the black dress.
Then Flash was off all
day and Bill had to go
to Montesano about his
car so we surely were
shorthanded. But we
got a lot done. Checked
drugs and seeds. Or—
dered stamps and did
a lot of odd jobs. Home
early and hemmed the
neck on Ruth‘s flowered
dress. To bed early.
How is everyone
doing staying home
during this COVID-J
crisis? just read that
the country's death toll
is over 10,000. In
the United States was
dealing with WWII,
TB, polio and bounc-
ing back from the Great
Depression. Staying
home will slow this ci—
rus down while they are
working on a vaccine
and a successfizl treat-
ment. Be positive, pull
out the old parlor games
and wait patiently for
this to pass.
God bless you all.
Thank you for reading
this week's diary.
