• E.M.T. Keith Vanderwal trains in emergency room of Mason General Hospital. Thirty-eight people recently completed an eight-week training course in Shelton and were certified as Emergency Medical Technicians. The interest and dedication shown to prepare themselves as volunteers to aid others in emergency situations is to be commended. Their training involved classroom and practical medical experience every Wednesday night and all day Saturday during the eight-week program. In addition to this they each served 10 to 15 hours in the emergency room of Mason General Hospital. The program was presented through the cooperation of The Robert Wood Foundation, King County Emergency Medical Services, Health Service Consortium and participating member, Mason General Hospital. The unselfish goal of each of the graduates was to learn the art of saving lives in an emergency, Their sole reward for their weeks of hard study is the knowledge that their presence at the scene of an accident may someday save the life of a member of their community.
