garden club work. She assisted
with projects still on view on
Railroad Avenue. She was active
in orthopedic guilds and in the
Methodist Church, and she
worked with children.
Survivors include her
husband, George; a daughter,
Mrs. Barbara Bearden of Pebble
Beach, California; three
grandchildren, Mrs. Arnold Jude
of San Raphael, California,
Michael Drake Bearden of Los
Angeles, California and Timothy
Lincoln Bearden of Mt. View,
California; a sister, Mrs. Carl
Schwedes of Sun City,
California; and a brother, F.C.
Polley of Hannah, Alberta.
A memorial service was held
on Saturday at Rancho Bernardo
Community Church in San
Diego.
Richard Petersen
Memorial services were held
at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Faith
Lutheran Church for Richard E,
Petersen, 45, who died Monday
in Olympia. Pastor Kenneth
Robinson officiated.
Mr. Petersen was born on
June 18, 1932 in Burlington,
Washington. On June 17, 1957
he began work for ITT Rayonier
at the Marine Lab near Shelton,
and in 1960 was transferred to
the Jessup Division of Rayonier
in Georgia.
He was transferred in 1963

Shelton ITT Rayonier Plant. He
was president of Mason County
Republican Club, president of
the Northwest Section of TAPPI
and held membership in the
Lions Club and in Shelton Yacht
Club.

Dortha E. White
Dortha E. White, 77, died
Tuesday in Mason General
Hospital. She was bornAugust
24, 1900 in Ceiling, Oklahoma.
A resident of Shelton since
1945, Mrs. White was employed
in Shelton General Hospital as a
cook. She lived in McCleary
before coming to Shelton.
A devoted mother and a
dedicated homemaker, Mrs.
White was active in gardening.
Her husband, Lee B. White,
preceded her in death on May 6,
1977.
Surviving her are three sons,
LeRoy White of Portland,
Oregon, Homer White of Shelton
and Charles White, also of
Shelton; a daughter, Edith
Fulmer of Shelton; a brother,
Alvin Chipman of Chester,
Oklahoma; a sister, Cora Stowers
of Ceiling; six grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
The Reverend Mason
Younglund will officiate at a
service to be held at 1 p.m.
Saturday in Batstone Funeral
Home. Burial will follow in
Shelton Memorial Park.

Leon F. Rigney
I.eon F. (Bet)) Rigney, 86, a
member of a pioneer Washington
family and h)ng-timc resident of
Ilarstine Island, died April 3,
1978.
Mr. Rigney was born in
Steilacoom and was a retired
employe of the American Lake
Veterans Hospital. He was a
member of St. Edward's Catholic
Church in Shelton.
Survivors include a sister,
Mrs. Arno (Edith) Redlich of
Tacoma; a grandson, John
Rigney of New Mexico; and a
daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ethel
Rigney of Michigan.
Mass of Christian Burial was
held in St. Leo's Catholic
Church, Tacoma, on April 5,
with internment at Calvary
Cemetery, Tacoma.
Campbell Family
A memorial service will be
held today for Donald Campbell,
42, his wife, Diane, 40, and their
granddaughter, Angelica, 1.
The Shelton couple and their
granddaughter were killed in a
plane crash in the Jolms River
area of Grays Harbor County
July 5, 1976.
Sear:h efforts at the time
they were missing during a flight
from Siletz Bay, Oregon, to
Shelton were unable to find the
plane.
The memorial service will be
held at 10 a.m. today at Shelton
Memorial Park Garden Chapel
with Reverend William Andrews
officiating. The service will be
under the direction of Batstone
Funeral Home.
Donald Campbell was born
December 26, 1933 in Stafford,
Kansas. He had been a resident
of Shelton since 1962 and was
employed as a naachinist at Puget
Sound Naval Shipyard.
Diane Campbell was born
August 14, 1935 in San Diego,
California, and had also lived in
Shelton since 1962. She was
employed as an arts and crafts
leacher at Exceptional Manor.
They are survived by one
son, Donald Campbell Jr.,
Shelton, and lwo daughters,
Laurel Oliver, Beaver, and
Stephanie Rice, Shelton.
Donald Campbell is also
survived by one brother, Gerald
Campbell, El Cajon, California,
and his mother, Olive Campbell,
El Cajon, California.
Diane Campbell is survived
by a sister, Janet Cook, Poway,
California, and her father,
Edward Bowman, Lincoln City,
Oregon.
Angelica Marie Campbell was
born June 9, 1975 in Shelton.
She is survived by her mother,
Stephanie Rice, Shelton; her
great-grandfather, Edward
Bowman, Lincoln City, Oregon;
her great-grandmother, Olive
