leads the pack on the final lap of the 880. rneet's mile and two-mile runs. Bulldogs win in track, ba ball Both North Mlson's girls' and boys' track teams easily carried off their opening Nisqually League meets last Thursday against visiting Orting. Meanwhile over on the baseball diamond, pitcher Jim Sullivan with the help of catcher Bud McKay kept visiting Charles Wright to a one-run game to take their first league match 3-1. In tennis, the news was not so good as only the doubles team of Tom Moore and Jon Smith managed to tally a win. North Mason lost to Chimacum 4-1. Earlier in the week, tile golf team braved rainy weather but ended up with the high score against Charles Wright at the Tacoma Golf and Country Club. In track, the Bulldogs' effort was aided by Gary Johnson's impressive sweep of tile 880, mile and two-mile events. For the girls, Kerry Burrell captured both the 880 and two-mile, while Jeri Anderson relieved her with a win in the mile. In the baseball victory, sharp-eyed catcher McKay managed to pick off four Charles Wright base runners to end their hopes for a late inning rally. North Mason opened the scoring in the second inning when Doug Leyde singled in a run. In the sixth frame, Dave Becker knocked in the winning run.
