Diocesan Day
set by the Episcopal churches
throughout the Diocese of Olym-
pia for the celebration of the an-
nual good fellowship gathering,
Diocesan Day.
On this day the women of the,!
Diocese are planning to entertain
those of their own congregation
and in some cases the women of
neighboring parishes and missions.
The most important event in
this connection will be the Dio-
cesan Day party held under the
auspices of the 21 churches of the
Seattle area at Diocesan House,
with the Rt. Rev. Stephen F.
Bayne, Jr., Bishop of the Diocese
of Olympia as guest speaker.
Stork Shower----00- Held
For Mrs. Stuart
Mrs. Frank Make and. Mrs.
Erick Anderson were hostesses at
a pink and blue shower given in
honor of Mrs. Jack Stuart on
April 6 at the Make home.
The table was centered with
de('oratiuns of spring flowers and
featured a large stork. The lovely
gifts were presented in a baby
bassinet.

Fund Drive Nears
Sixteen members of the Friend-
ship Ch/b met at the home of
Mrs. Leslie Itootnmn for a busi-
ness meeting April 6. A guest
at the meet was Mrs. Elsie Buin-
ing.
A novel idea was used in an-
swering the roll call instead of a
customary "present." Each wanton
answered with a poem or house
hold hint.
An amusing letter was read by
Mrs. Ethel Stoy to pep her fund
raising team on to victory as the
end of the contest will be April
11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, Mary
E. Sutherland became the bride
, of Robert S. Bednarski.
Judge Jack Cole performed the
ceremony before the fireplaee dec-
orated with Japanese quince and
spirea backed with greenery.
Following the ceremony the
bride cut the lovely three tiered
wedding cake and refreshments
were served the guests.
Out of town guests included Mr.
and Mrs. C. A. Davis, Centralia,
Mr. md Mrs. J. L. Taylor, Con-
italia, David Crawford, Centralia,
and Mr. and Mrs. N. F. Fallen-
tine and son Bob of Union. Shel-
ton guests were Mr. and Mrs.
Steve Bednarski, Jon Sharer and
Dick Ness.

At Zonta Dinner
The Shelton Zonta Club held
the regular monthly dinner last
Thursday evening at the home of
Mrs. Ralph CrabilL Assisting
hostesses were Mrs. Ethel Wilson,
Mrs. Robert Watson and Mrs.
ElmerBoardSmith'members were named at I
this meeting'. They included Mes-
dames Fred Beckwith, Joe Finn,
Ed Sutton, Cliff Wivell, Elizabeth
Simpson and Eugene Martin. Of-
fleers for the coming year were
named as follows: Mrs. Fred
Beckwith, president; Mrs. J. C.
Forrest, 1st vice. president; Mrs.
Cliff Wivell, 2nd vice president;

Mr. and Mrs. Craig P. Eliot of
the Agate district have received
word from their daughter, Janet,
who is in nurse's training at St.
Mary's school of nursing, in Tuc-
son, Arizona, that her class has
set a new record. The group,
which was capped on March 31,
has not had one wit2lrawal dur-
ing the six months probation peri-
od. As a general rule, 15 to 20
per cent of the trainees with-
draw by this time.

A meeting of the Tuberculosis
Executive board was called April
11 at the Court House. As a re-
sult of the meeting the reguler
hours of the executive secz'etary,
Mrs. Vernon Davidson, will be
from 12:30 to 4 p.m. every Fri-
day at the Court House.
Other business included the
naming of the nomination commit-
:tee members who are Mrs. John
Dotson, chairman; Mrs. 3-Iarry
Deegan, Mrs. Don Rueker, Mrs.
George Cropper and E. Luck. It
was disclosed that the 1949 budget
office.
