Pioneer KiWanis
Club clam/crab
dinner returns
The Pioneer Kiwanis Club hosts a
crab and clam dinner, with a live and
silent auction, May 21 at Pioneer Ele-
mentary School.
Proceeds from the event go to schol-
arships for Pioneer School District stu—
dents and for programs that benefit Ma-
son County children.
Tickets are $40 for adults, and $20
for children ages 2 to 12; kids under
are admitted free. The meal also in-
cludes spaghetti and coleslaw. Tickets
are available from any Pioneer Kiwanis

Allyn Waterfront Park
United Way of Mason County hosts
the Spring Dessert & Gift Auction from
noon to 2 pm. April 22 at Allyn Water-
front Park.

Students Fitzmorris,
Boothe excelling
at Oregon [State
Two students from Mason County
earned spots on the honor roll for the
winter quarter at Oregon State Univer-
sity in Corvallis.
To be eligible, a student must earn
a GPA of 3.5 or better while taking at
least 12 graded hours. The students are
Lindsay S. Fitzmorris 0f Belfair, a se-
nior majoring in agricultural science,
and Aaron J. Boothe of Shelton, a senior
majoring in computer science.

to Pioneer students
The Pioneer Kiwanis Club is offering
scholarships to high school graduates
and GED earners who live in, or have
lived in, the Pioneer School District,
and are continuing their education at
college or a trade school.

Harstine theater
group Offers
scholarship
The Harstine Island Theatre Club is
offering a $500 scholarship.
Applications and guidelines are
available at CHOICE, Cedar, Shell
ton, Mary M. Knight and North Ma-
son high schools, and at Olympic Col-
lege Shelton. Aug. 1 is the deadline to
apply, and the winner will be notified
by Aug. 15. Completed applications can
be mailed to Scholarship Committee,
Chair Dee Ann Meacham, 12 East Wil-
son Road, Shelton 98584 or emailed to
ddandsteve@q.com.
Scholarships
available
to Harstine residents
The Harstine Island Women’s Club
and the Judy and Charles Chase Me-
morial Endowment are offering scholar-
ships to full-time residents of Harstine
Island who are entering or continuing
their post-high school education.
Applicants must have earned a di-
ploma from an accredited high school or
a GED. May 16 is the deadline to ap-
ply, and winners will be announced by
May 31.
The number and amount of the
scholarships will be determined by
the time the scholarship recipients are
selected. A

to law enforcement
students
Graduating Mason County seniors
who plan to pursue a career in law en-
forcement or criminal justice can apply
for a Charlie’s Vision Scholarship.
The nonprofit was formed in 2018 to
support Washington law enforcement.
May 1 is the deadline to apply for the
$1,000 scholarships. Application forms
are available at https://charliesvisi0n.
org/scholarship. They can be mailed to
Charlie’s Vision Scholarship Program,
510 E. Wilson Way, Grapeview 94546.

Grants available
to women
continuing school
The Shelton Chapter GQ of PEG. is
offering grants of $1,500 and $2,000 to
local women to continue their education.
To qualify, applicants must be a Ma-
son County resident; a high schoOl grad-
uate or equivalent education; and be
enrolled in the 2022-23 academic year
at an accredited academic or technical
college.
The money can be used for tuition,
books, transportation, child care or
other expenses while attending. The
award will be sent directly to the
recipient.
Applications are available at Shel-
ton and CHOICE high schools, Olympic
College Shelton and the Shelton Tim-
berland Library, or by calling Dorothy
Vonhof at 360-426-2 17 5.
May 2 is the deadline to apply. Ap-
plications can be sent to PEO Educa-
tion Committee, 522 Kari Court, Shel-
