It's a 'spring thing': Food and finn on tap at MGH fund-raiser Mason General Hospital Aux- iliary announces tickets are avail- able for its second annual Spring Thing fund-raiser. Scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday, April 30, at Faith Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, the eve- ning includes dinner prepared by MGH executive chef John Cruse and entertainment. The theme for this year's event is "There's No Business Like Show Business." Auxiliary publicist Ginger Brooks reports the following peo- ple are set to perform: local musi- cians Paul Barber, Ron Grinnell, Deb Stewart, Cindy Mortensen and Rob Aaron, MGH auxiliary member Shirley Smith, Belfair attorney Joe Woodland and Dr. Jonathan Gold and his daughter Sunny and a trio of women from McCleary. Again this year Brooks will re- vive her Phyllis Diller persona to emcee the show. Phyllis' war- drobe was purchased at Treasur- ers, the hospital's thrift store, Brooks adds. Tickets cost $15 and must be purchased by April 24. They are available at the hospital gift bar or from auxiliary members Helen Rice at 426-3431 or Shirley Smith at 426-5295. No tickets will be sold at the door. All Spring Thing proceeds will be used to purchase equipment for the hospital. Scouts gather food bags Boy Scout and Cub Scout units from the Mason District of Pacific Harbors Council will return to residences after 9 a.m. this Satur- day, April 17, to collect bags of nonperishable food items for local food banks. Residents can leave the bags right on their doorsteps. This is the tenth year for the scouts' spring food drive, "Scouting for Food," and last Sat- urday the boys distributed 1,000 bags throughout the county. Any- one who did not receive a bag but wishes to contribute to the food drive, can contact organizer Bon- nie Younglove at 426-9438.
