able for its second annual Spring
Thing fund-raiser.
Scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday,
April 30, at Faith Lutheran
Church Fellowship Hall, the eve-
ning includes dinner prepared by
MGH executive chef John Cruse
and entertainment. The theme for
this year's event is "There's No
Business Like Show Business."
Auxiliary publicist Ginger
Brooks reports the following peo-
ple are set to perform: local musi-
cians Paul Barber, Ron Grinnell,
Deb Stewart, Cindy Mortensen
and Rob Aaron, MGH auxiliary
member Shirley Smith, Belfair
attorney Joe Woodland and Dr.
Jonathan Gold and his daughter
Sunny and a trio of women from
McCleary.
Again this year Brooks will re-
vive her Phyllis Diller persona to
emcee the show. Phyllis' war-
drobe was purchased at Treasur-
ers, the hospital's thrift store,
Brooks adds.
Tickets cost $15 and must be
purchased by April 24. They are
available at the hospital gift bar
or from auxiliary members Helen
Rice at 426-3431 or Shirley Smith
at 426-5295. No tickets will be
sold at the door.
All Spring Thing proceeds will
be used to purchase equipment
for the hospital.
Scouts gather food bags
Boy Scout and Cub Scout units
from the Mason District of Pacific
Harbors Council will return to
residences after 9 a.m. this Satur-
day, April 17, to collect bags of
nonperishable food items for local
food banks. Residents can leave
the bags right on their doorsteps.
This is the tenth year for the
scouts' spring food drive,
"Scouting for Food," and last Sat-
urday the boys distributed 1,000
bags throughout the county. Any-
one who did not receive a bag but
wishes to contribute to the food
drive, can contact organizer Bon-
nie Younglove at 426-9438. Last
year the scouts collected over 330
bags of food.

vows at St. Edward's
Craig and Alice Chapman of Shelton
will mark their 40th wedding anniver-
sary with a renewal of vows at the 11
a.m. mass Sunday at Saint Edward's
Catholic Church in Shelton. A recep-
tion, hosted by their children, will fol-
low the service at Bayshore Golf Club
on State Route 3 north of Shelton.
Alice Bourgault married Craig Chap-
man April 18, 1959 at Saint Edward's.
The Cole Road residents have also
lived in Edmonds, Lacey and Olympia.
Both are insurance agents at the Craig
Chapman Agency and both plan to re.
tire this year. The Chapmans are mem-
bers of Saint Edward's, the Shelton-
Mason County Chamber of Commerce,
Bayshore and Alderbrook golf clubs.
Mrs. Chapman belongs to Shelton
Morningstar Lions and Mr. Chapman
is a member of Mason County Republi-
can Party and Exceptional Foresters.
The couple's family includes daughter
Connie Chapman of Shelton, sons Rick
Chapman and his spouse May of Shel-
ton, and Steve Chapman and Monique
Van Herksen of Amsterdam, Holland,
and four grandchildren.

PEO sisterhood will meet for its

The PEO, founded in 1869 at
Mount Pleasant, Iowa, is a phil-
anthropic organization dedicated
to continuing education for wom-
en. The organization awards

bers of Saint Edward's, the Shelton-
Mason County Chamber of Commerce,
Bayshore and Alderbrook golf clubs.
Mrs. Chapman belongs to Shelton
Morningstar Lions and Mr. Chapman
is a member of Mason County Republi-
can Party and Exceptional Foresters.
The couple's family includes daughter
Connie Chapman of Shelton, sons Rick
Chapman and his spouse May of Shel-
ton, and Steve Chapman and Monique
Van Herksen of Amsterdam, Holland,
and four grandchildren.

The South Sound Reciprocity of
PEO sisterhood will meet for its
annual spring gathering at. 11:30
a.m. Saturday, April 24, for lunch
at Indian Summer Cotmtxy Club
in Olympia.
The PEO, founded in 1869 at
Mount Pleasant, Iowa, is a phil-
anthropic organization dedicated
to continuing education for wom-
en. The organization awards
several college scholarships to lo-
cal women each year. Mason
County has two PEO chapters.
