LEAKING SUSPICIONS
There are several reason why your vehicle's radiator may be leak-
ing. If you have not changed the coolant at the recommended inter-
vals, the antifreeze can become corrosive enough to eat through the
radiator's innards. Beyond that, the cumulative effects of normal shak-
ing and vibration can create separations between parts that are held
together by virtue or solder, epoxy, or crimps. And, it stands to reasSn
that the thermal forces associated with engine heating and cooling can
take a toll on stressed areas. Leaks can also be caused by compressed
sealing gaskets that allow coolant to slip by. Whatever the reason, a
radiator leak should be investigated immediately, and a decision should
be made to either repair or replace the radiator.
If you discover a leak in your radiator, don't waste time just pouring
more liquid into it get the assistance you need. At CARY'S TIRE &
REPAIR, our experience counts when it comes to delivering on our
promises to you. Visit us at 202 South First Street in Shelton (426-
9762). We offer only automotive excellence, which means you can have
confidence that your car will be properly evaluated and serviced when
you come to us.
HINT: In older, raar-drive cars with weak engine mounts, it is pos-
sible that the engine may lurch forward under hard braking just enough
for the engine-mounted fan to contact the radiator and cause damage.
