Shelton junior Jacob Ozga.
One in triumph, one in defeat...
Making a habit of late-game
nailbiting, the Climber varsity
softball girls split a pair of down-
.to-the-wire affairs the past week.
A week ago Monday, before go-
ing on an extended hiatus due to
rain, they went to the final out
before surrendering a two-run
bloop single in a 3-4 loss to the
Bearcats in Aberdeen.
The night before last, against
nonleague Bremerton, they had
virtually the same knuckle-
blanching experience - only this
time they got a two-run homer
from all-league junior Tori Krug-
er and a two-run double by sopho-

from behind in their final at-bats
and post a 6-5 victory.
Another all-leaguer, senior
Aimee Auseth, came up big in
the Aberdeen game. She led the
Climbers with three hits - en-
couraging indeed after she spent
most of the immediately preced-
ing basketball season mending
from a leg injury.
"She has her timing back," says
Climber coach Meredith Elkins.
"And the thing about Aimee is
she's getting to the point to
where, if the ball is anywhere
close - other than rolling on the
ground, just about- she can put
THE CLIMBERS LED by a
run and had two outs in the bot-
tom of the seventh and final in-
ning against the Bobcats, but se-
nior pitching ace Annie Delia de-
livered.
"She just kinda pushed a base
hit up over second base," says E1-
kins. "And two outs: Everybody's
running. Two runs scored before
we could get the ball in to the
plate."
For their part, the Climbers
nicked Delia for six hits, includ-
ing Auseth's three slap singles,
all-league senior catcher Britt
Sande's twin blows and a hit by
junior all-leaguer Reagan Settle.
But give the Aberdeen ace credit,
says Elkins.
"She is one of the better as far
as the ball moving some," she
says. She's pitched long enough to
know how to set you up. And she
made 'some of the younger hitters
look pretty bad.
"And when she can throw it for
a strike she has a pretty devas-
tating change-up. She can really
sucker you on. And some of the
kids fell for that."
Delia fanned fully ten Climber
batters.
COMPLEMENTING clutch
performers Kruger and Davis in
the Climbers' win in Bremerton
was veteran junior Kadie Hunter,
with a game-high three hits - one
Kid sister Emily came on in re-
lief of Kadie on the mound in the
sixth inning and got the victory,
blanking the hosts when their
backs were to the wall in the bot-
tom of the seventh and amassing
three strikeouts and nary a walk.
Friday the Climbers are at
home against R.A. Long, and Sat-
urday they play host to Camas
starting at 10:30 a.m. at MCRA.

the Aberdeen game. She led the
Climbers with three hits - en-
couraging indeed after she spent
most of the immediately preced-
ing basketball season mending
from a leg injury.
"She has her timing back," says
Climber coach Meredith Elkins.
"And the thing about Aimee is
she's getting to the point to
where, if the ball is anywhere
close - other than rolling on the
ground, just about- she can put
THE CLIMBERS LED by a
run and had two outs in the bot-
tom of the seventh and final in-
ning against the Bobcats, but se-
nior pitching ace Annie Delia de-
livered.
"She just kinda pushed a base
hit up over second base," says E1-
kins. "And two outs: Everybody's
running. Two runs scored before
we could get the ball in to the
plate."
For their part, the Climbers
nicked Delia for six hits, includ-
ing Auseth's three slap singles,
all-league senior catcher Britt
Sande's twin blows and a hit by
junior all-leaguer Reagan Settle.
But give the Aberdeen ace credit,
says Elkins.
"She is one of the better as far
as the ball moving some," she
says. She's pitched long enough to
know how to set you up. And she
made 'some of the younger hitters
look pretty bad.
"And when she can throw it for
a strike she has a pretty devas-
tating change-up. She can really
sucker you on. And some of the
kids fell for that."
Delia fanned fully ten Climber
batters.
COMPLEMENTING clutch
performers Kruger and Davis in
the Climbers' win in Bremerton
was veteran junior Kadie Hunter,
with a game-high three hits - one
Kid sister Emily came on in re-
lief of Kadie on the mound in the
sixth inning and got the victory,
blanking the hosts when their
backs were to the wall in the bot-
tom of the seventh and amassing
three strikeouts and nary a walk.
Friday the Climbers are at
home against R.A. Long, and Sat-
urday they play host to Camas
starting at 10:30 a.m. at MCRA.
Results of last night's clash at
Mark Morris were not available
