Page A—6 — Shelton-Mason County Journal — Thursday, April 16, 2020 'LEi-r’éh’sau. i‘rom page A-S Is Trump even a Republican? Editor, the Journal Now that I have addressed the union in Union, let me ad- dress the weekly A.A. meet- ing, Ardean Anvik. I don’t think I have ever felt so dis— liked by someone I don’t even know and who I know doesn’t know me. I can understand your right to your own opin- ion, Ardean, but where does all this hate come from? You act at all times like the half of this great nation that calls themselves Democrats are out to get just you. We should be able to have our opinions and be able to voice them just like you. So with that said, I would like to know how you felt about your president when from 1981 to 2009 he changed parties five times? He even did a stretch as an indepen— dent, A.A. From 1989 to 2009, he gave a lot more money to the Democratic Party than the Republican Party, his own words (the economy always seems to do better. un- der the Democrats). Did you have the same unmitigated love for him then, A.A? When he was rubbing elbows and voting for the Clintons at his daughter’s wedding, did you love him then? Please just Google “Is Trump a Repub- lican?” You will .find, not as long as you, A.A. Please tell me in your next letter A.A. how many times have you switched sides. I am proud to tell you that I voted for Rea- gan and G.H. Bush. G.W. was handed a balanced budget by Clinton and handed what is now called the Great Reces- sion of 2008 off to Obama. You also like to complain that the Dems have been out to get Trump from day one. Well, look up this quote from your leader of the Sen- ate, Mitch, in 2008 after Obama was elected (“My sole purpose in the US. Senate for the next four years is to make Barack Obama a one- term president”). Does that sound like someone out to get Obama, from the get go, A.A.? You, Trump and your whole party are the worst winners I have ever come across. You want everybody to give you the best of win- ning while all of you want nothing but the worst for the loser. Politics are dirty, I know, but not that dirty, A.A. You don’t get it both ways just because you won. Confucius says, “Man is never wrong, until he makes an ex- cuse.” That is all I have heard from all of you from the get go, excuses for your guy. Now, Ardean, I know you are going to come back at me and call me all kinds of names, and tell me and ev- erybody what a low-life com— munist socialist I am, which won’t answer one of the ques- tions I have asked and would really like your opinion on. I already know how you feel about me, A.A., and half of the rest of America. Please just respond to the easy—to- confirm facts I have listed above. Inquiring minds would like to know. Are you going to cash that socialist check like me when you get it? I remain the Blue Dog Dem sniffing the center line. Anybody want to come back? Bert Mullen Shelton Four more yea rs of Trump Editor, the Journal N ame-calling is a bad look. Ill-willed hostile feelings with projected (projection disorder) malevolence seem to have been the primary accomplish- ment of Bert Mullen’s April 9 .letter. I hope he feels better. Words, no matter how well written, with lens distorted, demeaning attacks certainly chill any desire on my part to debate issues. To repeat, again, what doesn’t work is a fool’s tact. Our government has passed with flying colors Hubert H. Humphrey’s moral test of government. Late March the world morbidity rate was 4%. The United States morbidity rate was 1.3%. The Washington state morbidity rate as of April 9 (421 divided by 9,097 + 4.6%) is 4.6%. Irene Graham Union .
