“We went through the other area
festivals, plus local events, and just
did our best to pick a date that wasn’t
being used,” Cooper said.
The lineup on Aug. 1 includes the
Paul Bunyan Grand Parade on West
Railroad Avenue, the vendor fair at
Loop Field, Rockin’ the Forest at Loop
Field, the Central Mason Fire & EMS’
Firefighters’ Pancake Breakfast and
the Kristmas Town Kiwanis Duck

The Forest Festival Family and Pet

works show was nixed because of the
fire danger that late in the summer.
Booking the carnival to come to
town is still being discussed, Cooper
said.
Organizers are reaching out to
sponsors, vendors and other festival
organizers, Cooper said.
“We’re trying to keep everyone in
the loop,” she said.
The festival organizers are seeking
volunteers. Festival updates are avail-
able on the festival’s Facebook page
and at the website at masoncountyfor—

“We’re crossing our fingers that
we’ll have the green light later this
summer to celebrate,” Cooper said.
Drivers cruising past Overlook Park
on state Route 3 into town are seeing a
prominent new reminder that the For-
est Festival is still on.
On Friday, Rachel Hansen and
family erected a 32—foot wooden Paul
Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox at the
site. Builders FirstSource in Shelton
donated the lumber and many of the
other materials.
