the change,” MotoAmerica’s Chuck Aksland said.
“We are all verypexcited about our first trip to the p

RECREATION BRIEFS
Free state parks
' day in April will
be rescheduled
Washington State Parks is post-
poning its two scheduled free days in
April due to coronavirus-related park
closures.
Saturday and Wednesday, a spring
free day and Earth Day, respectively,
were to be the fourth and fifth of 12
State Parks free days in 2020, when ‘
visitors are not required to display
the Discover Pass for day—use visits to
a park.
Due to Gov. Jay Inslee’s extension
of Washington’s stay-at-home order to
prevent the spread of the coronavirus,
Washington parks will remain closed
through at least May 4.
State Parks will designate two
days later in the year to make up for
the missed free days in April.
State Parks free days are in keep-
ing with legislation that created the
Discover Pass, which costs $30 for an
annual pass or $10 for a one-day pass
and is required for vehicle access to
state recreation lands managed by
Washington State Parks, the Wash—
ington Department of Fish and Wild
life (WDFW) and the Department of
Natural Resources (DNR).
The Discover Pass legislation pro—
vided that State Parks could desig-
nate up to 12 free days when the pass
would not be required to visit state
parks. The free days apply only at.
state parks; the Discover Pass is still
required on WDFW and DNR lands.
In addition to the new dates to be
announced, the remaining 2020 State
Parks free days are:
June 6 National Trails Day;
June 7 — Free Fishing Day; June 13
— National Get Outdoors Day; Aug.
25 -— National Park Service Birthday;
Sept. 26 — National Public Lands
Day; Nov. 11 —~ Veterans Day; Nov. ~
27 — Autumn free day.

due to COVlD-19
Olympic National Park is announc—
ing additional modifications to opera
tions in response to guidance from
local county health departments on
the Olympic Peninsula and supported
by the City of Forks. The health and
safety of visitors, employees, volun-
teers, partners, and local communities
is ONP’s N0. 1 priority, the agency
states. The National Park Service is
working with federal, state and local
authorities to closely monitor the CO-

In an effort to support federal,
state and local efforts to slow the
spread of the novel coronavirus, all
coastal areas of Olympic National
Park are closed to all park visitors
until further notice. Coastal closures
include all parking areas, trails,
beaches and facilities at Kalaloch,
Mora and Ozette. The N PS will notify
the public when it resumes full opera-
tions and provide updates on its web-
site and social media channels.
The NPS encourages people to take
advantage of the many digital tools
already available to explore Olympic
National Park. Check out the park
webcams and educational resources
available to explore on the webpage to
