WEEKLY PLANNER Five cards lead to 4-0 loss at Stadium By DEAN SIEMON On March 18, Shelton High School boys soccer kept Stadium High School to a 1-0 decision in the 4A Narrows League match on Highclimber Stadium's natural grass field. But the field turf at the the Sta- dium Bowl in Tacoma gave the Ti- gers the advantage in Monday's 4-0 win over the Highclimbers. "They took advantage of knowing their field," said Shelton head coach Marcelino Dumpit. "And we never playon turf."" Shelton (1-7-1, 1-6-0 4A Narrows League) allowed 11 first half shots in addition to four corner kicks. Stadium (7-2-0, 6-2-0 4A Nar- rows League) had their first goal from Nick Raskasky in the 12th minute ai~r a free kick. The Tigers then had another goal five minutes later, when Ras- kasky made a pass to Justyn Taylor for the 2-0 lead. Taylor would score again in the 74th minute and the 78th minute for the three-goal game. "If we didn't bunker down, easy goals for them," Dumpit said. Shelton goalkeeper Cody Wilkes had 10 saves at the net, with 22 to- tal shots from the Tigers. Dumpit said Wilkes is the type of goalkeeper that can face sever- al shots in a game and still make quality saves. "He's going to give everything he has in every game," he said. "He's a coach's dream." The Highclimbers were issued four yellow cards and one red card to Michael Millard, who must sit out in today's game in Shelton Journal photo by Dean Siernon Shelton High School's Mike Bowman attempts to stop Sta- dium High School's Justyn Taylor during Monday's game at Tacoma's Stadium Bowl. against Gig Harbor High School (8- Scoring summary,~ 2-0, 6-2-0 4A Narrows League).
