The Columbia Record Company
has designated the period until
May 15 as Lily Pons-Andra Kos-
telanetz month in tribute to their
unstinted war-time travels and en-
tertaining of tlle fighting forces,

Refresher Training
Don Waltcer Shelton state pa-
trohnan, spent last week in Olym-
pia taking a refresher course in
.police work, and this week, Les
Potter is taking the course. These
Com'ses are annual affairs, tak-
ing care of about 20 men in a
group.

The community was shocked
and grieved to hear of the sud-
den death Monday evening of
Charles Everett, who for many
years owned and operated Tilli-
cure Beach and who passed away
at that plac.c. The synlpathy of
:the entire/ conmunity is extended
to Mrs. Everett at this time.
Mrs. Robert Sheldon enjoyed a
brief chat with her husband by
long distance phone from Wash-
ington, D• C., Smday evening.
Mr. Sheldon plmmed to be in
New York City on Monday, then
in Chicago and hopes to be home
later in tile week.
h:r. and Mrs. Suchadolski were
paid a week end visit by their
daughter Nellie and Mr. and Mrs,
A• Smith of Seattle.
Potlatch housewives were
threatened with a water famine
last Wednesday when the water
main sprung a leak. Quick work
and 1)lenty of it on Ernest Carl-
son's part repaired the dapmge
and water was restored by eve-
nmg.
Donald Reader is the proud
possessor of a Ford coupe, pur-
chased a week ago.
Mr. and Jim Sisley were call-
ers in Potlatch last Sunday.
lIrs. Reader was hostess .for
the Potlatch Sewing Club on
Tuesday afternoon. After a deli-
cious.dessert hjnch a pleasant af-
ternoon was spent at needlework
.and .visiting, Tllose enjoying the
affair were the Mrs. Wivell, Avey,
Sehrimpf, Morrison, C a r 1 s o n,
Lockwood, Pi.e,.kering, Hussman
and. the lmstess.

Suehadolski have been busy buck-

Hoodsport friends were grieved
to hear of the passing of Captain
J. Hardin Nance who died Satur-
day nt 12>15 p. m• after more than
a year's illness, at the Shelton
hospital where he was taken last
Thnr,xtay. Captain was a Hood
Canal resident for the past 63
years, 22 of which were spent at
Hoodsport. I:le was captain on tile
Robert G. Seymour Chapel boat
which was dedicated 31 years ago
on Memorial day of tills year.
This boat which Craw?led up m)d
down the canal, had its own cha-
pel and services were held wher-
ever it anchored. This was the
only church available to Hood
Canal residents at the time. The
captain worked at boatbuilding
as a trade and was also a mail
carrier between Hoodsport and
Dewato for four years.
A son was born to Mrs. William
Seymour at tile Shelton hospital
Sunday. The father, William Sey-
mour is still with the armed" ser-
vices•
With the help of Mrs. Jesse
Killingsworth, Mrs. Jeanette her-
get entertained with a birthday
party Saturday for her son Dick-
ie, in celebration of his eighth
birthday. There were s v e n
guests, Donald Post, BobbyBear-
don, Roger Addleman, Jean Win-
ters, Ronald Goes, Penny Brown
and Jnanita Day, The table was
decorated with an Easter motif,
and centered with: white birth-
day cake. Games were played and
everyon e enjoyed themselves.'

left Saturday for Tacoma to visit
