Box 430, Shelton, WA 98584 ,' ,- Parks Continued from page A-1 plan was last updated in 2006. Since then, Keates said county staff worked hard to follow the plan's goals for park improvement in Mason County. "One of the big things that came out of the 2006 plan was the interest in do- ing a regional trails plan," Keates said. That regional trails plan was completed in 2007 and included things like a pathway from Mason Lake County Park to Twanoh State Park, the Kennedy Creek Salmon Trail exten- sion and a future trail from the Jacoby (Shorecrest) Park with Sunset Bluff. Many of the county's park properties have been donated or acquired at little cost, Keates said. Truman Click Park, which is three miles west of Matlock, for example, in- chides 30 acres of forestland that was donated to the county after Click died. "If you've never been out there I highly recommend you go out there," Keates said. The county also main- tains public boat launches at several of its parks, in- cluding Jacoby Park, Latim- er's Landing, Mason Lake County Park and the Union boat launch. The parks and trails mas- ter plan survey is available online at co.mason.wa.us/ parks. For that program, the Krivors planted 14,000 ad- ditional trees and plants and installed 1,400 more feet of fencing. "For those efforts we thought they deserved an additional pat on ~he back," Bishop said~ J J J t.
