An ER physician's
Antarctic adventure
will be showcased in a photography presentation on
Thursday, May 10 and on Monday, May 14 at 6 p.m. in the
Fllinor Room at Mason General Hospital. Dean Gushee,
M.D., emergency services medical director at MGH, will
present his wildlife photography and tell of his adventure
as a doctor on an expedition to Antarctica with a National
Geographic team. His inspiring account of 'nature in
the raw' describes life in an icy, remote part
of the world where Dr. Gushee was part
of an expedition team on assignment to
photograph Emperor penguins.
This special presentation is free and open to the public.

The Mary M. Knight track and field
teams competed in a heavy downpour last
week.
On April 191 the MMK girls' team took
fifth place out of 10 teams with 38 points be-
hind Northwest Christian in first with 203
points, Ocosta in second with 108 points,
Willapa Valley Jin third with 83 points and
North Beach inifourth with 46 points.
The MMK boys' team finished the meet
in last place with 11.5 points.
"I thought all athletes performed well
considering the heavy rain fall," MMK
head track and field coach Kitty Brehmeyer
said. "I was impressed by Michael Snyder's
400-meter time~ This was the first time for

him in that event."
Snyder, a sophomore, finished the
400-meter event with a time of 1:02.36 for
eighth place.
"I was also pleased with Adam Pais' tri-
ple jump distance," Brehmeyer said.
Pais, a freshman, jumped a distance of
31'2" in the triple jump for 12th place.
"Hannah Frost and Nick Dierkop were
both quite competitive again this week,"
Brehmeyer said.
Brehmeyer said she was ~roud of the fin,

points than three other 1B schools in our
league," she said.
The Knight Owls are scheduled to com-
pete at 3:30 p.m. today at North Beach High
School in Ocean Shores.
