Singing and dancing Shelt0000n senior

Shelton High School senior Kaylee
Harris knew when she was younger
that she wanted to be involved with
the choir.
"I've been singing since I was a wee
little child," Harris said, who started
singing in her first choir in the eighth
grade.
After her high school graduation
as a Running Start student through
South Puget Sound Community Col-
lege, Harris said she will attend Cen-
tral Washington University in Ellens-
burg to study music education with a
specialization in choir.
"I want be a high school choir teach-
er specifically," she said.
With other options including the
University of Oregon, Harris chose
Central Washington for a music pro-
gram that has produced a number of
successful music professors.
"They [Central Washington] have
pretty much the best musical program
in the state," she said.

She was also a part of the Night of
Musical Theater last November.
"Being able to be in front of all the
students and teach them music and
dancing, and I got to sing," Harris
said.
Harris was also apart of the Shel-
ton High School dance team that com-
peted at the state championships in
March.
"It was a lot of fun," she said. "When
we realized at districts we made it to
state, we were all excited."
The senior has also been involved
with the Shelton High School Key
Club and a member of an all girls
choir at the Olympia Youth Chorus in
Olympia.
"I spent a great deal of my time
singing and dancing and I wouldn't
have spent it any other way," Harris
said.
The Second Annual Earth Day on Oakland Bay
Event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Satur-
day, April 30. This family friendly event features
local resource agencies and volunteers working to
protect and sustainably use the natural resources
found in Mason County such as clean water, shell-
fish, native plants and more.
Workshops Schedule:

opportunities, local resource agencies and volunteer
