The Shelton boys' soccer team has
struggled to find the goal in its last
three games.
On April 17, Bellarmine outscored
the Highclimbers (5-18) 5-1.
"We played well but Bellarmine
played a lot better," SHS head boys'
soccer coach Isaiah Herrera said.

In the last week, the
Shelton fastpitch team lost
four of five games.
On April 24, Central Kit-
sap won 11-0 over Shelton
(3-13).
"It was the worst game
last week because we didn't
score," SHS head fastpitch
coach Kim Goldsby said.
"Our biggest thing right
now is mental base-running
errors and then we have
one inning that's bad."
Jordanne Krumpols, Ky-
lie Schnitzer, Lynae Brown
and Allie Simon all hit 1-2.
On April 26, South Kit-
sap outscored Shelton 10-1.
"The first inning was our
bad inning," Goldsby said.
Brynnen Beierle hit one
single and scored one run
while Alyssa York hit 2-2.
Morgan Mitchell pitched
for the Lady Highclimbers
with four walks and zero
~ strike-
outs.

On Friday, Curtis beat
Shelton 9-6.
"This time we had six
baserunning errors and
that knocked us out of the
game," Goldsby said. "We
had junior varsity kids
playing with us and they're
so raw."
Goldsby said Mitchell
pitched a good game for the
Lady Highclimbers, despite
the loss. Mitchell pitched
one walk and four strike-
outs, the most she's had
against a competitive team
this season.
"Honestly, it was a team
loss," Goldsby said. "They
had one big-scoring inning.
Curtis has the best short
stop I've seen all year."
Kelsey Albaugh hit 2-4
with one single and one
double while Beierle hit
2-4, Krumpols hit one dou-
ble, Schnitzer hit 2-4 and
Simon hit one double.
On Monday; Gig Harbor
defeated Shelton 5-1.
"We were much im-
proved," Goldsby said. "It
was 2-1 most of the game.
We had scoring possibilities
in the second, third, fourth
and fifth innings and scored
our run in the fourth."
She said Gig Harbor had
a big inning in the fourth
and that that was when
Shelton had many fielding
errors.
Finally, on Tuesday,
the Lady Highclimbers re-
ceived a forfeit from Mt.
Tahoma, though Goldsby
said she was trying to
get the game rescheduled
and have the forfeit over-
turned.
She said last Friday, she
made a deal with the team.
"If they win three games
between last Friday and
the end of the season, they
get to do stuff to my hair,
excluding baldness," Golds-
by said.
She added that this
team has been fun to coach
this season.
"They've come together
really well and there's no
infighting," she said.
The Lady Highclimbers
are scheduled to play at 4
p.m. today at Linder Field
in Silverdale against Cen-
tral Kitsap.
The team's final two
scheduled games are at 4
p.m. tomorrow at Mason
County Recreation Area
(MCRA) against Stadium
and at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at
MCRA against Spanaway
Lake.

The Shelton boys' golf team won
its final two home matches of the
season last week.
On April 24, the Highclimbers
outscored Stadium 136-127 at AI-
derbrook Golf Course.
"I thought we played fairly well,"
SHS head boys' golf coach Mark
Jensen said. "Zach Lund and Colton
Gott had a really good day."
Lurid led the team with a score of
76 for 32 points while Gott scored 78
for 30 points. Par for the course is 72.
"It wasn't our best day but we
played at Alderbrook which is a
tough course," Jensen said. "There
was a lot of wind and moisture and
all the fine things of spring golf."
On April 25, Shelton dominated
Capital 121-96 at Alderbrook.
"Considering the condtions, I
thought the kids had a pretty good
day," Jensen said. "The kids over-
came a lot of stuff and mentally it
was a good day. That's such a big
thing for kids to get past mental
things."
Alec Martinson led the Highclimb-
ers with a score of 78 for 30 points.
Jensen said the team has two
tough weeks ahead of it.
"The next two weeks are real
big for us," he said. "We have two
matches against Bellarmine and
Central Kitsap, which are tough
teams. Then we have our league
tournament over two days and the
Duke Streeter Invite. That's five big
matches in 10 school days."
The team is scheduled to golf at
2:45 p.m. today against Central Kitsap
at Kitsap Country Club in Bremerton.
