Boys' rugby ties with Kent By EMILY HANSON The Shelton boys' rugby 15s team couldn't pull ahead for the win last week. On Saturday, Shelton (2-2-1) tied with Kitsap 5-5 at Oakland Bay Junior High. "The Kitsap team played a very ag- gressive game, forcing our boys to over- analyze our attacks," Shelton co-head boys' rugby coach Chris Nesmith said. "When slowing down the game and finding our rhythm, things were great. When rushed, things weren't great." He said not many players were used in the Kitsap game. "Because of the International Rugby Bureau match rules of only using 22 players with no open substitutions, not many guys got field time," Nesmith said. He said the boys' team is growing af- ter every match. "This weekend was two very opposite styles of the game coming together," Ne- smith said. "It is good for the Shelton boys to get the opportunity to experi- ence different approaches and styles." The boys' next game is a non-league matchup against the Kent program at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Kent. "I'm going to use our non-league time to get the younger guys on the field in hopes of grooming them for their vast rugby careers," Nesmith said. He said that he couldn't imagine ii!iii!i!i!iii@ii!
