"It's especially true with the amount of times the

While the partnership between the school district
and the PUDs has been so beneficial, Whitehouse said
it's actually a rare occurrence.

ship, because I think we have fewer opportunities in
education to connect with community agencies," she
said. "It's been a really nice alliance."

McCutcheon agreed that being very familiar with
Shelton would help her be an effective director of the
chamber. '
"I think it's an absolute advantage being from here
and knowing the lay of the land and many of the busi-
ness owners," she said.
McCutcheon plans to continue working towards
the goals already set forward by the chamber board,
including increasing membership, and getting the
chamber back on track after a long period without an
executive director.
"So far it's been in a holding pattern," she said.
Initially, the chamber offered the job of executive
director to Mike Morrissette, who had experience di-
recting numerous chambers of commerce throughout
Washington, but according to the chamber, during
contract negotiations the two parties reportedly could
not come to an agreement.
