Basler, 47, died Thursday,
April 28, 2011 at home in
Tahuya. She was a resident
of Tahuya for 22 years.
She was born
Apri! 13, 1963 to
Herbert and Ferol
(Frash) Taylor in
Chesterhill, Ohio.
She graduated
in 1983 from Vin-
ton County High
School.
She married Jo-
seph Basler Novem-
ber 4, 1991 in Port
Orchard.
She was a fuel
station attendant
for the Safeway in Belfair.
She was a member of the
Belfalr Community Bap-
tist Church. She had a real
passion for horses and her
hobbies included motorcycle
riding, crafts, knitting hats
for the homeless, reading,
traveling (especially to the
ocean) and enjoying video
games and electronics. She
was the director for Vacation
Bible School, and enjoyed

working with the AWANA
group at her church. She
loved her family.
She is survived by her
husband Joe Basler of Ta-
huya; mother Ferol Taylor
of Albany, Ohio; sons Jesse
and Daniel Basler of Ta-
huya,; daughter Megan

step-son Joshua
Basler of Sar Di-
ego, Calif. brother
Geoffrey Taylor
of Meigs County,
Ohio; sisters Patri-
cia Taylor
of Key West, Fla.,
Andrea Schmidt of
Georgetown, Ohio
and Stephanie Reed
of McArthur, Ohio.
She was pre-
ceded in death by
her father Herbert Taylor,
grandparents and son Toby
Basler.
A service is planned at 1
p.m. on Monday May 9, at
the Belfair Community Bap-
tist Church, 23300 NE State
Route 3, Belfair, WA 98528.

Margaret Elizabeth (Gla-
ser) Simmons, 82, died
peacefiflly Monday, Febru-
ary 14, 2011 at home in
Lacey.
She was born November
16, 1928 to Hugo A. Glaser
and Celia F. (Yennie) Gla-
ser, of Harstine Island at
Tacoma General. She was
the sixth and last child born
in the family.
She grew up on
Harstine Island
where she attended
grade school and
went on to graduate
from: Irene Reed
High School in Shel-
ton, class of 1946.
She married Lau-
ten E. Simmons in
1947.
The family said
"Being an Island kid
Margaret also knew
about hard work."
She worked for the Weyer-
haeuser family for a num-
ber of years as the cook and
housekeeper for the W. Tree
Ranch. She also worked
for the Camp Fire Girls in
Olympia. Even in retire-
ment she could not sit still,
she liked to walk, oRen do-
ing so on the Island her fam-
ily shared. She was an ac-

complished blackberry pick-
er and could bake a good pie.
The family said that she
enjoyed a mug of hot cocoa
and watched the sun rise or
set over the same view she
had as a child. She enjoyed
laughing and dancing. She
often commented to fam-
ily about how much fun
was had at the community
hall when music was played
"shaking the rai rs on that
old building."

vive her.
She was pre-

for her along with her hus-
band Lauren at 2 p.m. Sun-
day, May 8, 2011 at the Bal-
low Cemetery on Harstine
Island.
The family asks that in-
stead of cards or flowers to
consider donations in Mar-
garet's name to Alzheimer's
research or to the Parkinson
research centers.

Williams
Juanita June (Reed) Wil-
liams, 91, died Wednesday,
April 20, 2011 in Tacoma.
She was born April 6,
1920 to Jay and Thelma
Reed in Leland, Ore.
She married Keith Wil-
liams.
She owned and operated
the Blue Willow Flea Mar-
ket in Shelton.
She enjoyed photogra-
phy, cooking and going to
garage sales, collecting and
selling.
She is survived by her
sister Sylvia Ripley of Olal-
la; son Wayne Jay of Olalla;
daughter Lori Williams of
Bend, Ore. and Joanne Hay
of Lynnwood and five grand-
children and six great-
grandchildren.
Her husband Keith Wil-
liams preceded her in death
in August of 2010.
A memorial was held in
Leland, Ore.

Mary Katherine Smith,
98, died Saturday, April 30,
2011 at Shelton Health and
Rehabilitation from natural
causes.
She was born June 13,
1912 to Elmer and Lula
(Pittman) Baxter in Car-
rolton, Ky.
She was a resident of
Shelton for 81 years having
moved to the Agate
area in 1930 when
her family pur-
chased their tract
of land on Pickering
Passage.
On September
20, 1932 she mar-
ried Elmer P. Smith
at the Assumption
Catholic Church in
Seattle.
In the 1950s she
owned and oper-
ated the Shelton
Flower Shop where she was
a wedding consultant and
director for many years,
eventually selling out to the
family that operates Fergu-
son Flowers.
In 1950 she and 10 ladies
organized the Shelton Gen-
eral Hospital Auxiliary. She
has been a member for over
60 years. She was a char-
ter member of the Shelton-
Mason Zonta club, her title
was Homemaker of Mason
County. She served on the
election board for 67 years.
Smith was known as the
matriarch of St. Edwards's
parish and was also a mem-
ber of St. Mary's Altar So-
ciety.
She bowled in an orga-

nized league for over 15
years, enjoyed reading,
working crossword puzzles,
gardening and playing
bridge and poker with fam-
ily and friends. She enjoyed
her trips to the casino to
play blackjack, which her
family said she was quite
good at.
She is survived by her
