Woman's
Club sets meeting
Next Thursday the Hood
Canal Woman's Club will hold its
May luncheon meeting at 11:30
a.m. in the Potlatch clubhouse.
Hospital Week
to be observed
Hospital Week will be
observed from Sunday through
May 17 with ladies of the Mason
General Hospital Auxiliary serving
coffee and cookies in the hospital
during morning and afternoon
hours.
Nursing scholarships will be
awarded at the annual spring
luncheon to be held Monday at
noon in St. David's Episcopal
Church. A style show will be
featured.
Hostesses will be the Mesdames
Alice Snuffin, Verna Galyean,
Lily Wilkinson, and Frances
Catto.
Following the lunchon, the
education department of the club
will present the program. Yuko
Yoshida, AFS exchange student,
will talk about Japan.
A short business meeting will
be held. Two club delegates to the
State Convention of Federated
Women's Clubs, Mrs. Dorothy
Gleason and Mrs. Wilma Gaede,
will give reports.
At the spring conference of
the Peninsula District, the Hood
Canal Woman's Club was
awarded a first place certificate in
conservation, th, ird place in
education, and first place in
international affairs.
An executive board meeting is
slated for Monday.
MERLE SNYDER was
installed recently as Exalted
Ruler of Shelton Elks Lodge
No. 2467.

Mr. and Mrs. Moritz Schmidt, will
be graduated on May 18 from
Whitworth College and the
Spokane Nursing Center with a
bachelor of science degree and a
four-year nursing degree.
While at Whitworth, Maxine
has been the recipient of the
Shelton Soroptimist Club's
scholarship each year, and
Washington State Nurse's
Association District No. 22, in the
name of Harriet Campeau, also
made Maxine the recipient of its
scholarship during her four years
in school.
