Shelton's Jordanne Krumpols runs to first base during the Lady Highcli
against Stadium on Friday at MCRA.
Lady Highclimbers drop
By EMILY HANSON
The Shelton fastpitch
team dropped two more
games last week.
On May 2. South Kitsap
won 7-4 over Shelton (3-15)
in an extra tuning.
"We should've won the
game against South Kit-
sap," SHS head fastpitch
coach Kim Goldsby said.
"It was tied 4-4 at the end
of the seventh inning and
we had the winning run.on
base. We couldn't get her
across, though."
This was the first time
a game went into an extra
inning for pitcher Morgan
Mitchell.
"Morgan was a little ner-
vous and it showed." Golds-
by said.
Mitchell pitched the com-
plete game with two strike-
outs. three walks and 11
hits.
Brynnen Beierle hit 3-4
with two runs. Jordanne
Krumpols hit 1-3 and Lynae
Brown hit 2-4 with one run
"They started with their
second team pitcher and
then put in their first team
pitcher." Goldsby said. "We
hit against their first team
pitcher better, which was
encouraging. What lost it
was mental errors again."
The team had three phys-
ical errors against South
Kitsap.
On Friday, Stadium shut
out the Lady Highclimbers
9-0.
"We actually played them
really well," Goldsby said.
"It was 1-0 until the fifth in-
ning and then we had a bad
inning."
Mitchell took a line drive
throw to the top of her right
knee cap in the fifth, an in-
jury Goldsby said she feared
would remove her from the
game.
"She stayed in the game,
though, and was still com-
petitive," Goldsby said.
"Morgan has become a true
athlete."
Mitchell pitched two
strikeouts, three walks and
11 hits.
Krumpols, Kelsey A1-
baugh and Kennedy
O'Connor earned one hit
each. These were the only
hits the Lady Highclimbers
had against Stadium.
Despite the loss, Golds-
by stated there were some
great individual perfor-
mances.
"Kelsey continues to
make amazing plays in cen-
ter field," Goldsby said. "If
Jordanne gets on base, she's
going to steal and she's un-
stoppable. I've given her
the greenlight on delayed
steals."
The team's season was
scheduled to end earlier this
week.
