Two North Mason High
School golfers automatical-
ly qualify for the 2A WIAA
State Girls Golf tournament
after finishing in the top-
eight at the Olympic League
championships on Mon-
day at Gold Mountain Golf
Course in Bremerton.
Anela Barber finished in
seventh place with a round
of 106.
She is automatically qual-
ified for a berth in the state
tournament on May 24 and
25 at Lake Spanaway Golf
Course in Spanaway Lake.
North Mason girls coach
Martha Music said ever
since she first saw Barber
three years ago at the driv-
ing range of LakeLand Vil-
lage Golf Course in Allyn,
she had potential.
"I just knew at our first
team meeting, when I saw
her I said Yes, state, here
we come,~ she said.
One of the aspects of Bar-
ber's game that is a note
for improvement before the
tournament is her short
game.
"She's really good at the
tee and really good on the
approach," Martha Music
said. "But the money mak-
ing shots are the approach,
the chip and the putts."
The short game is also
something that North Ma-
son boys golfers Tommy
Renne, Andy Renne and
Austin Makowski are hop-
ing to focus on in the ZA
West Central District tour-
nament on May 17 at Gold
Mountain Golf Course in
Bremerton.
The Renne brothers both
tied for the ninth place spot
after each of them scored
a round of 84 on the par-
72 Olympic Course at Gold
Mountain on Monday.
Makowski finished 16th
with a round of 93 as golfers
who finished ninth to 18th
were able to compete at dis-
tricts.
The return to Gold Moun-
tain could be an advantage
for the three Bulldogs.
"They play that course
fairly oRen," North Mason
boys.coach Ron Music said..

With Thursday's 8-6 win over league ri-
val Klahowya Secondary School at the Kit-
sap County Fairgrounds in Bremerton, the
North Mason High School softball team
earned an Olympic League playoffberth to
play in the 2A sub-districts.
The Lady Bulldogs (8-10, 8-8 1A/2A/3A
Olympic League) held a 6-3 lead entering
the bottom of the seventh inning.
Klahowya (5-11, 5-10 1A/2A/3A Olympic
League) was able to score three runs in the
bottom half of the seventh with the help of
RBI while batting two out of four.
"She's really come through for us in the
last two games," Fusare said.
Tristan Stromberg and Emily Younkin
each went two for five with a RBI.
Kori Frohlich had a triple in her only hit
in five at-bats, but earned a RBI on a sac-
rifice fly,
"We're starting to make better contact
and make the other team play defense,"
Fusare said.
North Mason's coach said earlier in the
season that the team as a whole needed to

ning with a strikout, groundout and a pop-
fly out.
"She kept her composure and allowed us
to make plays behind her," North Mason
head coach Molleigh Fusare said.
Despite being an ugly win, Fusare said
the team played well late to pull out the
victory.
"I think it was good for the girls to play
under pressure," she said.
Abbey Marshall led the team with three
sive plays."
On Friday, the Lady Bulldogs defeated
3A Bremerton High School, 18-1.
Younkin went two out of four with a
home run and three RBI, while Marshall
and Tristan Stromberg each went four out
of four at the plate, driving in a combined
five RBI.
