The North Mason High
School boys soccer team
suffered a 6-0 loss at 3A
Bremerton High School on
Thursday.
But the loss doesn't end
the Bulldogs' (3-9-1, 2-5-1
1A/2A/3A Olympic League)
season as they are number-
five 2A team in the Olym-
pic League - Bremerton
(11-5-1, 7-1-0 league) is 3A
while Port Townsend (6-8-
1, 3-5-0 league) is 1A.
North Mason fell behind
2-0 at halftime, after a goal
from James Hill in the 25th
minute and from Alex Cor-
rell in the 33rd minute.
The Bulldogs allowed
four goals in the second half
- two more to Hill (53rd
and 63rd minutes) and one
from Jonathan Ryan (72nd
minute) and Nick Riders
(80th minute).
"It's hard to come back
against a team like Bremer-
ton when you're down 2-0,"
North Mason head coach
Matt Friesen said.
Frisen also said the score
didn't reflect the game.
"I thought we played
pretty well," he said. "We
just gave up some sloppy
goals." *
Frisen said the Bulldogs
could make some shifts on
the field while maintaining
the best balance he feels
the team can play with
; r ,goingto.m ike sure
we i qe' the best balance" Of
attack and defense," Frisen
said. "We've been trying a
few people in different posi-
tions."
One of those players that
could be moved is Hunter
Ralston, who has played
well at defense. His move
would be to the midfield.
"I might give Hunter a
little more freedom," Fri-
esen said.
The Bulldogs were
scheduled for a loser-out
2A sub-district tournament
game against Lindbergh
(Renton) High School (3-
11-1 overall) on Wednesday
(past press time) at Pen-
insula High School in Gig
Harbor.

urday at North Kitsap High School in Poulsbo.

Several North Mason
High School Bulldogs took
top places in the Olym-
pic League Championship
meet on May 6 and 7 at
North Kitsap High School
in Poulsbo.
Sophomore C.J. Allen
earned a personal best time
in the 300-meter hurdles
with a time of 40.17 sec-
onds, defeating Olympic
High School's Rielly En-
riquez by three-tenths of a
seconds.
Allen ran nearly one sec-
ond slower in the prelims
of the event with a time of
41.08 seconds.
North Mason head coach
Jeff Bevers said that Al-
len's run in the Shelton
Invitational on April 30,
where he finished 11th' in
both hurdle events, has
helped him imrpove on
rumzing against adversity.
"When he has a chance
to go out and catch some-
one or with someone run-
ning next to him and win,
he continues to do that,"
Bevers said.
The Bulldogs' boys 4x100
relay team, consisting of
Ahron Stroud, Joshua Ho-
sier, Kameron Crosswhite
and Tevin Williams, took
first place with a time of
44.63 seconds.
Williams earned a sec-
ond place time in the
100-meter dash in 11.58
seconds. His times in the
dash has increased since
his 10.92 personal best at
the South Kitsap Invita-
tional on April 23.
For the girls team, Shan-
non Heiter won the league
title in the javelin with a
throw of 102 feet and seven
inches.
"She's always been a
streaky javelin thrower,"
Bevers said. "But one thing
she's always been able to
do is finish at the top or
near the top."
Bevers said he feels
Heiter will continue to im-
prove as the season enters
the postseason meets.
"I think she still has a
120-foot throw in her," he
said.
Teammate Alicia Martin
took third with a throw of
94 feet and one inch.
The Lady Bulldogs were
strong in the relay events,
taking second place in both
the 4x100 relay (52.98 sec-
onds) and in the 4x200 re-
lay (1:51.35).
In both relay events,
North Mason sent Evelyn
Willi 'ms, Alivia Sandquist,
Tabitha Schwerzler and
Emma Berg.
North Mason track and
field is scheduled to appear
in a 2A Olympic League
sub-district meet to face
the other 2A schools in
their league Kingston,
Klahowya, North Kitsap,
Olympic, Port Angeles and
Sequim.
The top-eight athletes in
each event will advance to
the 2A West Central Dis-
trict meet on May 20 and
21 at Sunset Chev Stadium
in Sumner.
With Bulldogs In 23
separate events, Bevers is
confident in the training all
season.
"Probably about 70 per-
cent of them will advance,"
Bevers said.
