The fifth and sixth grade
students from Pioneer
participated in the annual county
'track meet last Tuesday. This
event is sponsored by the Shelton
Kiwanis Club each year. Pioneer
took fourth place in this year's
competition. The students
brought home many ribbons,
which are on display in the
showcase. Jerry Brush was
Pioneer's star performer, bringing
home three blue ribbons.
A well-deserved bouquet is
extended to all the fine folk in
the community for their
tremendous support at the sixth
grade auction this year. This
"thank you bouquet" is also
extended to the Shelton
merchants whose donations
contributed so much to the
overall success of the auction. The
sixth grade class is in great shape,
financially, for their upcoming
(and much anticipated) overnight
trip to Canada, now less than two
weeks away. The date is set for
May 23. The students and several
parents will bid a very sleepy
adieu to the school at 4 a.m.
The school personnel and
students wish to offer their
e
grateful and appreciative thanks
to Jerry Dickinson, John Cook,
Don Griggs and Barry Hoyland
for their time and effort to adding
two basketball courts on the
playground at the school.
Tuesday of this week Sandra
Williamson (a former Pioneer
student) was the guest of the
sixth grade class for the day. Over
a year ago Sandra, her sister and
three brothers, along with their
parents, moved to Whidbey
Island. The Williarnson family
formerly lived at Timberlakes.
Tuesday is election day. Don't
forget to vote. The fate of Pioneer
School will be in your hands on
that day.
